Love the raised dishwasher!

In fact, we added one in our home 7 years ago. We have to replace our dead dishwasher now, and can't get the old one out. Is there any cabinet modification needed? Our builder, and Cardell cabinets are out of business. Do you have any DW instructions for ANY cabinet maker that might help us out? Appreciate any light you can shed on this! Thanks so much!

thanks for your question! our builder used a local cabinet maker for this project. call around to the local cabinet workshops, where you will find some good craftsmen & women to make cabinet modifications.

to remove your dishwasher, find the manufacturer/model on the sticker on the side of the door, then search the web for installation instructions. there are usually 2 large screws that go up into the underside of the front of the counter, which prevents the dishwasher from tipping over when you open the door. be careful - the dishwasher is heavy!

@michael Morton - quickest way to tidy trashed kids rooms is to get them to tidy it up themselves, usually just before they want (not need) to go somewhere or do something. Few episodes of you supervising + encouraging them along will soon see the amount of trashing of rooms decrease. Gritted teeth go a long way during this learning curve. Doesn't matter how small they are now - from 2yrs up, don't expect perfection. Wait til they reach 13-14yrs to try this - woahhh - you'll wish you had a bedroom tidy elf! The other way to look at it is ask yourself, will you lasting lifelong regret be that you didn't spend more time tidying up rooms!

Hi original poster! I know it’s 7 years since you asked this but would love to know what you did. We are not in a similar position with a similar looking house at the back but even steeper. I know that a full extension and lowering the internal floors would be ideal but we can’t afford that and need a 5-7 year fix. Please let us know what you decided and why ☺️

Loading is easy - it happens during the day and tidies up the dirty plates so the sink area is always clean and tidy. I don't like unloading it in the morning, but it's a first world problem and I should get a life and stop complaining because it's the most useful household item in the house.

Pond done! Took ages to paint as was flat pack, so two coats front, back and sides before assembling. Pump and plants in which are just babies at the moment. Loved all the colour suggestions but decided on Cuprinol Wild Thyme which blends in so well with the surroundings.
