Unused fireplace in Kids bedroom - Ideas pls
Comments (25)Not sure what it's actually like inside, but I had an ugly fireplace to deal with in one of my houses in England, and since removing it wasn't in the budget at the time, I found a piece of artwork I liked that fit into the opening framed and stuck that in it, then put a plant on the hearth just in front and to one side of the artwork to give it a little bit of life/color/dimension. I do like the whiteboard idea, but you can also do colored chalkboard paint, if you want to add something other than black. Maybe pick out a color from the tiles and fit the new board a little better so it's nicely framed by the existing tile surround? (You do need to keep it a fairly dark color so the chalk shows, but it looks like there's a nice dark blue/green you could use based on the tiles? My laptop's color display is in 'night' mode so I can't tell exactly what shade the tiles are atm. They look sort of teal-ish to me. :) )...See MoreStorage ideas for old house with no cupboards and chaotic kids?!
Comments (17)I wouldn't be ashamed, that's kids! What do you use the mini room off the study for? Does the ikea unit have storage baskets? Apparently the kallax replaced your unit so they do the branas basket which should fit? They're £15 each though so not cheap. That may then hide some of the stuff. What if you were to paint it in a chalk or really matt paint and maybe pop an ornament or 2 on top, do you think that would blend better? I would either move your bench elsewhere, or get some baskets to go underneath. You could look at a storage bench ( there are a handful on ebay with free p&p that aren't too dear or have a look at maybe an old fashioned wooden blanket box ( although my nan used to have one and I was convinced it was a coffin!). They are quite big and store a lot and could look good? Have you heard of streetlife? I signed up to it a few weeks ago and people also offer unwanted items on there so may be worth a look. It's definitely worth getting a cupboard costed up...See MoreKids bedroom window ideas
Comments (7)Hi Tia, I think our new Glow in the Dark fabric could have a fun middle ground appeal to both girls while the neutral grey background will work well with the colour scheme. Our roller blinds are unique as you can actually swap the fabric of the blinds after they are installed without remeasuring or ever removing the system from the window, by simply hooking off one fabric and hooking on another. So you can easily update your look as their tastes grow and change. Find out more about our Fabric Changing Roller Blinds here. Or you could pair the fabric with a BlocOut™ Blind for an unmatched level of darkness in the room to ensure the girls get a great night's sleep, even on these brighter morning. Feel free to give us a call on 0800 107 5535 if you have any questions at all. Best of luck, Kiera...See MoreKid room redecorating
Comments (6)A bit of a risky idea but depending on your budget and flexibility how about letting her decide what she wants.? colours soft furnishings etc. We allowed our 7yr old to do her room last year. See below how it turned out.
