Need help with creating a sophisticated and feminine bedroom
Comments (13)Everything is too Industrial looking to be feminine. I would empty the room and start with an empty slate. The tufted headboard is nice, add a storage bed underneath--I think Ikea has plain white units, possibly. The blue is too strong for a truly feminine feel unless there are a lot of fluffy, rufffly bedding items to counteract. The mirror should definitely go. Too big. A mirror in a white or gilt roccoco frame? A single woman doesn't need more than a queen size bed or even a full. What about an antique white iron bed? Tall enough to put underbed storage, with a pure white eyelet bedskirt gathered really full. Without knowing colors she likes and periods, it's difficult to make suggestions....See MoreNeed help creating an ensuite bathroom with a wow factor
Comments (10)hi there desain. I assume the plan you've posted is what you currently have? how about something like this (pic below) I've used a pocket door as the main door, which would go towards the toilet area, and a sliding door in the toilet area. Basically, I've put the toilet and bidet separately on the right, basins on the left, freestanding bath beneath the window and the walk in shower beyond the toilets The basins are drawn to be 0.6m wide. The length of the unit is 1.7m, width is 0.7m. The space between the wall (wall with main door) and unit is 0.5m. You could put a mirror there. The distance between the sink unit and separate toilet area is 0.8m Toilet area is 1.8m × 1.6m. There is 0.7m between the front of the toilet and the wall The shower is 1.8m × 1.2m, with a 0.4m shower seat along the length. The entrance to the shower is 0.7m There is a distance of 0.6m between the bathtub and basins. The bathtub is 1.7m × 0.8m...See MoreHelp needed to change flat layout & create 3rd bedroom
Comments (14)Hi again Jane. Any external changes, including windows, may require planning permission. If the property is a block of flats or mansion block this may be more of a challenge. You may have permitted development rights, which can be another good option. Any change, however small, is likely to be subject to a license to alter especially if there's a management company or a remote freeholder. This includes windows in any shape or form. As unreasonable as it may appear, The licensee / freeholder can quite legitimately sell you the space and the roof structure and then request a full license to alter application. It's also not a given that the you be awarded the license. Sorry if this comes across all doom and gloom. There usually ways design challenges. understanding all the risks as well as the potential is important....See MoreHelp Creating Work Living Room Space
Comments (19)The fireplace is looking great. It looks like a fun project. I work from home too and it can be sometimes a bit much, not being able to break away from the work. I like surrounding myself with things that inspire my work rather than the work itself. Although, that niche you've got is screaming for a built-in bookshelf. But instead of using it as storage for workstuff, you could fill it with things you love instead. It would add texture and colour to the space. You could also consider having it in wood, to bring in the wood texture your wanted on the floor. I really like the colour palette you've chosen. I have a grey carpet myself. It would be easy to add a pop of blue on your chairs. If you are worried about the desk chair, there are products with castors for carpets. Another thought, is perhaps the desk can be pulled away from the wall, so it fills the room. It can act as your desk, as well as a meeting space or a family space in the evening. It also won't feel like you are facing a wall all day long....See MoreA Crew of Two
