We are in the market of selling luxury furniture, so would recommend quality and style above all. If you can afford luxury new items thats all very well, they are beautifully made and offer gorgeous styles that can stand the test of time. However, we also understand not everyone has the budget to be able to do so. If your budget is lower, be savvy and buy traditional or contemporary pieces at auction. Use your imagination and buy quality second hand furniture and accessories that are design classics for a fraction of the price. Use interior design techniques that feature colour and textures to bring out the best in your choices. You can then incorporate inexpensive items as long as they are interestingly designed. Inexpensive ....and dull...is definitely not an option.

After all this information about houzzers' various likes and dislikes, can I do a bit of summing up? Different people like different foods and drinks and are fully entitled to make their choices. Human beings have evolved as omnivores to eat both animal and vegetable foods. Everyone needs a balanced diet and this can include both kinds of food or, generally with a bit of planning, vegetable only. Too much of any one food is not advisable even if it is something "good for you" like spinach. [The person who noted that spinach contains oxalic acid, which is an alkaloid, is quite correct but you would need to be eating Popeye quantities of it for it to do you harm. All green vegetables contain various alkaloids and lettuce contains an opiate - remember Beatrix Potter's Flopsy Bunnies falling asleep after eating a surfeit of Mr McGregor's lettuces.]. Some people are allergic to or intolerant of certain foods, lactose (which generally means cows milk lactose but all animal milk , goat and sheep as well as cow, has lactose), gluten and peanuts are the best known. You can become intolerant of things you like [I have a friend who is lactose and gluten intolerant and dreams of cream cake!]. Whole milk has on average 225 calories per pint, semi-skimmed about half that. A sedentary adult woman has a daily calorie requirement of 1800 to 2000 calories depending on height. If you drink half a pint of milk a day in tea, coffee on cereal etc. you are not saving many calories by using semi-skimmed, especially if you find yourself putting more of it into the coffee. Sugar about 20 calories per teaspoonful (5 grams). There are no brownie points in heaven for consuming processed milk substitutes or similar stuff but their manufacturers might give you points to collect to buy more of it. Remember that their main interest is selling you goods with the greatest value added factor. [You can make your own soy milk from the beans if that is what you like. Internet search will produce several recipes.] If you are interested in what I eat and do not eat: I am mostly vegetarian by taste rather than conviction and I almost always prepare food from fresh raw ingredients. The less it has been processed before it gets to me the better. There are things I do not buy because I do not especially like them and there are plenty of alternatives around which I do like. I have a very short list of foods I will refuse if presented with them by a host. Principal among these are factory reared chicken (because of the cruelty of its production and the antibiotics used) and sweet potatoes (because they invariably make me vomit within 5 minutes of swallowing them). I am a fanatic on not wasting food or putting anything biodegradable into refuse that will go into landfill.

I suspect one trend will be customisation. And that'll happen on the entire scale between "basic habitation" and "luxury home", as well as between "small piece of furniture" and "complex building structure". It'll be used to drive developers' and builders' costs down but also to enable more design features for specifiers at no extra cost. On-demand fabrication (CNC cutting, 3D printing, offsite prefabrication) is already a common thing for higher-end builds where site access constraints or specification details restrict what's possible to make on site. "Prefab lofts" that are just craned up and put into place are only one such example; 3D printed concrete or bricklaying robots are going to enable on-site fast custom construction as well. The price point for these projects is coming down though, so we'll see more projects like the "wiki house" on entry level as well. And not just for self-builders. The potential impact of this on large-scale housebuilding is tremendous; right now, in the U.K., to meet their price point, Developers build 50 identical shoebox houses, while with cheaper customisation they may built 50 foundation slabs with utility connections preinstalled and let customers choose the "actual house" off plan from modular catalogue design. This will create an interesting challenge for planners ... approve a development where it's not entirely predetermined how the houses will look when built... That - customised one-off manufacturing becoming cheaper - will also move applicability towards smaller items. Ultimately, the "next IKEA" might be a (work)shop where your flatpack furniture is made-while-you-wait; browse the display select the style give them a picture of the room taking your new kitchen for the dimensions, the software will give you a 3D VR experience how it'll look&feel. When you know what you want the CNC machine will make the cabinetry to size, right there. The demand for the interior finishes/furniture side of customised manufacturing is in part also going to be driven by housing policy and the need for affordable accommodation; the London Mayor's "naked homes" initiative is a start here, and if it takes off we will see companies addressing the demand for finishing/furnishing such "built but not finished" apartments.

Love the view. I think 2 down the middle would look quite bulky. I think 1 long pole with a curtain either side is a really nice idea, especially if you put some pictures or something down the middle, making it into a kind of feature in the room. :)
