It's Grey but which Grey?

Can anyone please help on which paint colour (F&B or other) might look a lot like the walls in this photo in a north facing, darkish, hallway?

ok so I'm still al little confused but almost decided (mainly cos i can't take this strange indecision anymore!) So 3 tall integrated of/larger fridge & pull out larder units on back wall (in photo) and l shape base units only in Slipper Satin. Worktop in snowy ibiza as it has a taupe tinge to it so works well with Slipper Satin but lighten the room too and wimborne white (or possibly Valspar Fluffy Robe) for the walls and open shelves. I still want my champagne bronze tap and am hoping it will go but it's the only thing I'm not certain on now and the only thing i'm dead set on having! Off to look at Kahrs flooring samples today.

For what purpose? Other walls, trim, ceiling, furnishings? Have a look at this -- I really like the aqua door with the walls, especially with the white. It's very refreshing.. I love Johnstones paint. Wouldn’t use anything else. They can also match to Farrow & Ball colours etc. They do a sample tin. It’s a nice little sized tin (and it is a tin, not one of those Dulux plastic things) and as I’m a regular I get mine for £3 or £3.50 (can’t recall). I would get them to do a couple of sample tins. Perhaps have a word with some long standing member of staff to get their opinion. Our local manager is Sandra. She’s been there many many years and has a good eye for detail.

I would say either cornforth white or ammonite. I have cornforth white in a North facing room and it looks the same. The only other one that springs to mind is pavilion grey.

Cornforth White has a purple tinge to it (she says looking out of the window at her purple grey house). Looks slightly too dark to be ammonite but it's possible.

campo73 and shelleyuk ... we thought exactly the same and bought testers of cornforth, ammonite and pavilion grey. Completely agree with the purple tinge to Cornforth White comment, we saw exactly the same. Ammonite looked like the photo in certain darker parts of the corridor but under a brighter light faded away in terms of levels of contrast against white woodwork (which is part of what we like about the photo set up). We have therefore crossed our hearts and taken the bolder step of Pavilion ... we'll just have to keep bright lights on if we've opted for too dark! Thanks for your help.

(if you look closely at the photo, you'll notice that old estate agent favourite of switching all the lights on ... even though it appears to be daytime through the door ... so we guessed it might be a darker shade of grey if we can still see this level of contrast against white even under bright lights)

The light conditions in a room definitely affect the colour. We have cornforth in a south facing room and it's completely different, much lighter. I've seen pavilion grey in a north facing room, it's really lovely, a truer grey than cornforth. Hope it works for you.

if pavilion doesn't work for you try Malm from Fired Earth. We have it in our snug and it looks very similar to your photo and is lovely with white.

After lots of hard google searching, we have actually found the original photo and it is apparently Benjamin Moore Barren Plain. The points however of course remain ... it will look slightly different in our hallway so much so that any one of the other suggestions might actually create the 'look' we are after in the photo better for our light conditions! Time for more tester pots. We should set up an eBay of tester pots!

It's a lovely colour so hopefully this helps! Also let us know if you have any progress!

Thanks Ocean Clarke, the Paint Picker tool is a brilliant idea in concept but unfortunately I'm not sure how often it works in reality. For example, I clicked the same picture and the paint picker suggested a completely different paint to what was suggested for you!

Hi Amer,

Yes, I see what you mean. I guess it depends which part of the image you click as this wall is curved, so there will be a slight difference in colour due to the shade from the curve. You could use this as an estimate or indeed just try your luck with sample paint pots. I'm sure (fingers crossed) you'll find the perfect shade in time!
