Breakfast Bar lighting!

Hi all, our breakfast bar will be 1.6 metres long (see plan - breakfast bar coming out of back wall). We have currently set up for two pendant lights coming down but I am now worried three would look better?? I will need to act fast and get electrician back before plastering if so. We still are not completely sure whether we will have 2 or 3 bar stools, depending space. If we continue with two pendants I'd imagine they would need to be fairly big so as not to look lost in the room?

2 lights is more than enough above a 106 cm long bar.

Could I ask your advice on tiles and paint. We have a traditional kitchen with oak tops and shaker grey kitchen doors (burford grey), but want to a add contemporary element too. I was thinking of metro tiles, a great suggestion someone gave me was white tiles with pale grey grout. I also would like to warm it up with an accent colour. I was going to use the cabbages and roses material for the blind (raspberry elephant stripe). What do you think or would you add / change anything ? I wish I had gone for a more simple dome pendant - might be able to change them still!

Thanks everyone for all the positive comments. Just to answer your query Lisa-jane. The resin which you see lite fills the hole of the groove so there are no grooves etc so no problem with the crumbs. The light; you should never need to change them they should last approx 30,000 hrs. The ones in our showroom has been going for nearly 2 years 24, 7. If you did need to change them it is not difficult.

I'd like to add air extractors don't have a grease filter. It may increase smells (and everything that goes with stinky dirt) on the long run.. But most important: "An point to be checked is the required airflow for you extractor, normally this depends on the size of kitchen and also the type of cooking. The correct airflow for an extractor can be easily worked out, simply multiply the volume of the room by ten and you will obtain the ideal airflow for your kitchen. For example for a kitchen size of 4m x 4m with a height of 2.7m: (4 x 4 x 2.7) x 10 = 432. Therefore any product with the airflow of 432 m3/h will provide efficient ventilation."

I don't feel this room really fits a peninsula but obviously you'd like to sit with a view so putting sitting facing the window is a perfect solution. The sink doesn't need to be in front of the window as you hardly spend any time washing up these days, especially with a dishwasher. Move this to the left and continue the top over with leg space (perhaps 300 deep units for a sneaky bit of storage). Alternatively, could you have one door to the garden and do Carolina's idea over the other door? good luck Emily

No I haven't but thanks for that idea! It will be 160cm.

They do say that 3 is a magic number, but I think 2 fairly sized ones would look perfect in the given space.

It really depends on the style and size of the pendant light.

For example, something like this would look perfect as 3 or 4, even 5.

Tegg 1 Light LED Ceiling Pendant - Gold

For lights that are wider than 30cm 2 would look perfect and add plenty of light.

Kensington 3 Light Glass Mesh Flush Pendant Light - Clear

There is also the 3rd option of going for a light bar instead of separate pendants.

Oh oops :-) Sorry, I shouldn't attempt to read numbers before coffee in the morning. Now I understand why you were wondering if three would be better. As mentioned above, depends on the pendants you've chosen.
