This is a one of kind antique. It was purchased in Santa Fe in an antique store.

Hi, I would definitely put a statement lamp or two on this piece, particularly as it is so close to a sofa. Also a picture or mirror that is just short of the width but has some height would look fab here. Below are a few ides how to decorate it. You could also put up some shutters on your windows to compliment the sideboard - help tie it all in together? Would like to see some photos of your finished look. Good luck. Shannon

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. There’s some real effort in the advice and I really appreciate it. I think I’m going to leave the sideboard as it is. Paint the wall, either grey or a deep blue, and add a lamp, plant/ terrarium - possibly a few bottles of gin (for show Ofcourse). If I remember, once I’ve done it - I’ll add a picture and share it. There's the obvious painting it in a tone to match the blue wall (you can get an eggshell mix made up to match which should come out a tad darker than the wall colour) Or you could paint the bottom and get some fablon to put on the top in a pattern. Seen some with a pink/white geometric with gold strips in - or tropical effect to tie in with the green of the sofa. You could even cover the top and leave the rest wood 🤷🏻 Quicker and easier than painting it all. You can also cover it all in the fablon as well or wash strips and go all out

If you google 'gilding wax' you should find lots to choose from. The wax would give a gold ( or what ever wax you choose) sheen to the high points of the inlay. If you look at Annie Slone's website there will be tips on how to use it.
