Help! Taken wall down in kitchen, breakfast bar or small dining table?

Plan : knock small kitchen into adjacent small bathroom to create larger kitchen with room for breakfast bar and a reduced depth larder storage cupboard to solve problem of lack of storage and nowhere to perch.
Now the wall is down I can't decide if putting the bar across from the right had side near window into the room would look odd and if I would be better putting a able and chairs there and building a cupboard on the left hand wall . Thoughts appreciated.

Hi HH, I think the "liberated" corner next to the window would look better with table and chairs. If you build a bar with stools you will live some space unused and the kitchen will become very long creating an energetic tunnel between the doors. There is many doors in your kitchen... It is not recommendable to work, cook or sleep in such a tunnel as in long term it can have negative influence on people. The table would close the kitchen space and stop this energy making the whole kitchen more cosy. It's still small space so please avoid black or dark furnitures as the "eat" a lot of natural light and make it look smaller. Don't forget to put some small plants around when you have everything done ;) /Marcin

Hi. I assume the existing kitchen is staying? You could have a small breakfast bar and then use a sideboard/dresser base as a larder on the back wall next to the hall door. How many do you need seating for? A banquette could work well in the space and provide storage for things that aren't needed regularly. You could possibly (can't quite picture it) have a larder next to the sink and banquette in an L shape. Are you suggesting a larder in front of the serving hatch?

Thank you so much for your comments - I did try to attach a photo and twice it showed as attached but fails to have loaded. Anyway I agree - I love 3 more than 2 - it feels the right number to me. Whilst 2 decent sized ones would be fine too, I think the breakfast bar might look bigger with 3, plus we are having 3 seats under so I think 3 is what I'll go with. I hadn't thought about the size of the shades, so thank you for the advice of sticking to 25cm or less.

measurement wall on left to back of chair. centre of room =2 metres. 2 seater sofa would be where standing cardboard is and front of seat is cardboard on floor. wondering is this too tight. 2nd photo ID "sofa"more at an angle. Given that both spaces won't be used at same time and work chairs pushed in after use , you'd have more space in stove area and also moving sofa if required for dining space. Circular table would have similar excursion into the room.

I don’t think the hatch adds anything to the rooms so I would remove the wall but not in its entirety. It’s a narrow kitchen but I wonder if a U shaped kitchen might work. This would necessitate blocking the kitchen door that leads into the hall. Access to the kitchen would then only be from the lounge roughly located where the hatch is now. Leave the base units that house the sink and hob where they are and run slimline base units along the kitchen/hall wall. I have heard of people using wall cupboards for this purpose. You could perhaps have open shelves above. Going back to the wall with the hatch. Take it down to base unit height on either side. Or slightly above to screen the work surfaces from the lounge/dining room and take it down to ground level where the hatch currently is to allow access. You would of course need to relocate the radiator but that shouldn’t be too much of a job.

I’m with lifestyle kitchens on this one - I think you potentially do need extra support over the expanse between the cabinet and the waterfall leg, if it’s a long expanse like your picture. If someone were to sit on the middle of that, it could break (depending on the material). We have an overhang so a different situation, but my builder arranged for some steel supports to be made to provide the necessary strength. You can’t see them as they run out from the adjacent cabinets and just support underneath the overhang.

I may do away with the hatch as it's not needed. Seating for 3 would be good.
