Window dressing windows of different heights
Comments (8)I still think blinds at the bay window would look better, you can use a thick fabric and have a thick lining put in as well. I'm not so sure that hanging curtains from the crown detail would look right above the door.... I'd be more inclined to go from the picture rail height..... just personal opinion! Also, what colour are you thinking of doing the walls and are the window coverings likely to be heavy patterned or plainer textured fabric? Just thinking that if the walls were say a beige then a darker shade for the window coverings with a slight pattern or texture it would be less obvious that the windows were different heights, your eye wouldn't be drawn to it so much as a heavy pattern....See MoreWindow Dressing for a square bay window?
Comments (18)We would say that your best bet is to go with wooden venetians, they come in a huge range of colours and give you that plantation shutter look, but without the bulk or price tag. They can be partly closed in the morning - giving you privacy but also giving you control over the light coming in. With larger slats you can angle the light towards the ceiling or towards the floor. We have a huge range of real wood (or faux wood) blinds to choose from: http://makemyblinds.co.uk/wooden-blinds.html Also if it helps we have a handy guide on how to measure for a square bay like yours: http://makemyblinds.co.uk/blog/how-to-measure-for-a-bay-window/...See MoreUnusually shaped windows - can't figure out a window dressing
Comments (9)Hi Lauren! I worked on a project with a similar situation! The windows were in a spare bedroom, so ideally they really did need to be covered at night time, however only when people were staying over. We had venetian blinds made for the standard rectangular window, then for the 2 angled windows, we produced a 'shield'. Basically, we got our joiner to make two shields which were templated to the same shape as the window reveals, with a handle in the centre, which then hooked on to the window. So they could be taken up and down as you wish. They were produced in oak and finished the same colour as the rest of the joinery and blinds, with a handle in pewter to match the rest of the ironmongery in the house. Unfortunately I don't have ay photos of the shields, but you can see the window, and the hooks that the shield mounts on to! We found this to be the most simple, unfussy option, and you are still able to see the windows in their full glory. The shields are kept in the cupboard when not being used. I hope this helps! Comments (23)I really think it's a great basis for a lovely bathroom as it is. Here's what I would change to make it into the lovely, relaxed and luxurious space you're aiming for: roman blinds, change the photo frame for framed art with green tones in it, change the mirror for a larger and more elaborate one, find a small cart/trolley that holds towels and the items for daily use that are now on the little planchet. If you have space for that? There are very narrow ones that might work?...See MoreRoom Revolution Ltd
