Hi UK Design Man In my opinion adding light into the vaulted ceiling really lifts the room and adds depth to the whole environment. You can achieve this using pendants (the Le Soleil would look great), wall uplighters (such as the Elle wall light) or recessed floor lights (like the Tera 7). Advice on paint colour for rooms with wood detail

Hello Caw01 I love houses with period character. It makes the space feel a lot more earthy and homely. The colour is important but also what feeling does the space leave you with when walk in. I would consider the space between the wood as negative space. The main feature is the wood. I would paint it with a woodstain, Ronseal do one in that is quick drying. Go for Matt finish not gloss to keep it looking natural and go for a natural colour like Antique or Mahagony. I would go for a durable paint live vinyl-Matt in Brilliant White by Dulux, Wickes do a decent-is in house brand version. Your home is beautiful instead of focusing on the negative space between the wood. Make the wood itself the feature and everything is a neat and clean white.
