If you have a rightmove type floor plan that shows the rest of the floor this is on /and that above or below it (if part of the same home) it could give more of an insight as to alternatives that could be available, it might be an idea to post it to this thread if you don't mind ? Plumbing needs to be taken into account when designing without knowing what else is near its a tricky one to help with . Similarly without knowing more about the rest of the home it's not that easy to suggest which walls might be worth investigating knocking through as to knowledge of the knock on effect for other important things like fire safety needs consideration too ! We need to keep safety in mind as #1 priority !!

Fiona - I’ve been looking into replacing some doors with Crittal style and have contacted loads of suppliers and companies. The one that I’ve been most impressed with is the company mentioned above by Lou Valdini - Merlin Windows in Yorkshire. (I’m in the East Midlands). They gave me a competitive quote really quickly and then I got a quote from the fitter mentioned. (They fit across the UK and they link in with Merlin to ensure timings etc). It’s likely that we will go ahead in the next few months. (Just need to convince husband as he prefers chunky timber 😂)

Thanks for your input! It’s a one bed flat so it’s never going to have more than one or two people in the cooking area so I know 900mm is the minimum ideal gap but I’ve had it lay out on the floor in cardboard and it’s doable. I wasn’t planning on a dishwasher as at the moment it’s just me who will be living there and I can’t justify it. I’ll get Howdens to give me a cost to weigh it up. I’ve got until the end of April before I need to place the final order. If the end 600mm unit is the place for the DW then the position of the island doesn’t impinge on accessing it hopefully! The rad is existing but will be swapped out for a 600mm vertical, my mistake not changing the plan! It will be moved far enough away from the F/F :) I had a 1200mm breakfast bar in my last house and it was plenty big enough for 1-2 to dine. I will have a table and chairs in my garage that can be brought in when I have friends over.

Thank you for your replies. Ellie- both rooms are a nice size but we want to incorporate a living area into the mix aswell hence the extension. Also I don't think the current kitchen is wide enough to make that into the dining room Jonathan- I look be the plan but I don't think the dimensions are quite right. For example, the wall where the long side of the sofa is is less than 1m in length so wouldn't fit in the current layout. I hadn't thought about the kitchen to the left side though so might give me more ideas to play with ☺️
