Conservatory blinds

Hi , my conservatory is very cold in the winter ok

and in the summer it's a fly refuge centre . I currently have vertical blinds in place , the glass roof is exposed. I want to replace the vertical blinds and attempt to create a warmer environment . Any suggestion ?

Hi Lynn Luxaflex have a great range of conservatory blinds; including the Duette blind which provides some extra insulation in winter and solar reflection in summer. Hope that helps PB

We also have a glass roofed conservatory. We wish we'd asked for an opener in the roof. but didn't think! The glass in the windows is what causes the cold as the roof is better insulated glass. We gave up and bought curtains ( very thick ) which pull right round and out of the way. They definitely do the job. Also, when the door is open in the summer, we pull one curtain round so that it comes halfway down the door and it stops the flies!. I can't imagine that any blinds would have the same insulation properties as a thick curtain.

When we pull the curtains back in the winter to let the sun in, in the morning, the cold floods in.
You can barely see the curtains when pulled back against the little half wall. We have a track right round in white which you also don't really notice.

Hi Houzzers, My conservatory is a Lean-to type and its 5m * 5m - We have our conservatory roof with insulation and spot lights so no roof blinds needed. We need conservatory blinds on the two sides including the door out to the garden We called in Hillarys as they were doing 50% off blinds and the cost comes up for 2 sides including doors to about £960 for vertical blinds 89mm Acacia fitting inclusive. As it was a lean-to we would have a sloppy fitting and hence wanted a made to measure one rather measuring myself and getting it fitted Does this cost seem ok as we are new to this? Will the glass structure be held together with uPVC frames? If so, conservatory blinds are made with exactly those problems in mind. Our EasiFIT Conservatory blinds are pleated, making them great energy savers and keeping the extension at the ideal temperature. Our DuoShade ones have the best thermal properties, but they're blackout too so if you want to retain as much of the light as possible, the DuoLight variety are the ones for you. Thank you. I'm having a pale grey sofa in the kitchen and I'd i like to mix some different pattern cushions on the sofa, mainly geo/ikat type. Could I do this with either of the blinds I picked out? :)

I imagine any thick throw will work as long as the whole sofa is covered. Our floor faded eventually, but literally took year ( nearly 10 ) Weirdly enough, the worst sun damage we've ever has, was to the back of a pair of 'black out curtains', on an ordinary window ( not in the conservatory )must be the backing they use, horrible, went completely yellow in long dark patches.

Hi Lynn,

If you're struggling with differences in temperatures, then thermal Pleated blinds are perfect. The honeycomb structure helps to trap the heat in the winter and actually makes things more temperate in the summer months too.

You can also get versions of Pleated blinds that are top-down bottom-up as illustrated, which means you can better pinpoint light and privacy control as the blinds can be positioned anywhere in the window.

We chose curtains because we didn't want to obscure the view in any way, but handy to know you can have blinds that go the other way!

They are a nifty piece of kid Man About The House! The beauty of Pleated blinds too is that they fold up really small, so there's very little glazing obscured at all.
