Ikea kitchen colours choice

Hi,

We are doing up our house, we're thinking about tiles that resembles dark wood. I'm interested in a blue island but don't know if it will fit with the tiles and how to get the doors and the cover panels in that colour. Also not sure about the rest of the colouring of the kitchen doors. We will have a white type of worktop. Any advice? Website of companies that modify ikea?

Hi,

Stonesuperstore is a good place to look for wood effect tiles. Mixing and matching colours can work well, but on smaller kitchens I would look at a lighter colour for the units if planning a blue island unit. There are quite a few companies that will refurbish kitchen doors, most can do it in your house.

You could possibly Ask at your local car workshop ?! Or a local joiners ? The joiners in more likely to have a more suitable drying rack ! Best of luck with it all !

Hi. I don't think it will make the room feel small although not sure it's the best choice for a North facing room but It does have some warmth in it so you could perhaps try it in the alcoves or on some furniture maybe? You could team it with skimming stone. Or look at colours like Clunch or savage ground which are good for North facing rooms. If you really love it though why not paint 2/3 coats on a3 pieces of paper and hang all over the room to see how it changes in the light. Only one way to tell and as you have the tester nothing to lose! Would just think about how you tie it in with the kitchen though so it doesn't feel like a separate room

Hi Debbie. I hope it's all going well so far for you! You have some great ideas. When north light is involved I would stay clear of whites with green or blue undertones or infant, those colours. You want to enhance the warm. Try a white with a red or yellow undertone. This will easily pair with yellow so great on the rug. I would choose this white first and then when a test patch is up (or you have one on paper) I would look at a suitable green to work with it. For adding fun and to break up the block colour I would add a mural/sticker to the wall (someone like ink vinyl) they are reasonable priced and very easy not only to put on, but more importantly, to remove in a few years without leaving a mark as tastes change! :) You have a great start to the space and I look forward to seeing your ideas come together.
