What to choose with this wallpaper?
Comments (11)HI FRANCIS, GORGEOUS WALLPAPER, HAVE YOU THOUGHT OF AN ENGINEERED WOOD OAK FLOOR? SAINSBURYS HOMEBASE HAVE A GORGEOUS LIGHT OAK ENGINEERED PARAWOOD FLOOR CURRENTLY AT HALF PRICE. ITS EXTREMELY HARDWEARING, ITS SO STRONG AND TOUGH, AND YOU CAN SEAL IT WITH EXTRA COASTS OF YACHT VARNSH TO PROTECT IT FOR YEARS TO COME. WE HAVE IT IN OUR HOME, IT LOOKS GREAT AND EVERYONE WHO VISITS COMPLIMENTS IT. I WOULD HAVE THE WALLPAPER AS A FEATURE WALL AND I WOULD PAINT THE OTHER THREE WALLS A STONE COLOUR LIKE THE PAPER. ITS SO STUNNING YOU ONLY REALLY NEED ONE WALL. OR THEY COULD GO ALL WHITE WITH WHITE FURNITURE TO LOOK QUITE MODERN OR COTTAGEY. LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF PATTERN IN THE ROOM TO LET THE WALLPAPER BE THE STAR OF THE ROOM. TICKING STRIPES WOULD ECHO THE LINES OF THE PAPER AND GIVE A FRENCH CONTINENTAL TWIST. YOU COULD KEEP THE ROOM TONAL IN ALL SOFT NEUTRAL PALETTE OR YOU COULD GO WILD WITH TEAL/DUCKEGG/TURQUOISE/PURPLE CURTAINS. IKEA HAS SOME GREAT WINDOW CURTAINS, IF YOU REALLY WANT TO COLOUR POP ORANGE IS A GREAT CHOICE WITH CHOCOLATE BROWN OR BLACK. I GUESS YOU HAVE TO DECIDE HOW YOU WANT THE ROOM TO FEEL OR THE LEVEL OF IMPACT YOU WANT IT TO HAVE. YOU CAN GET THE SAME DEPTH AND INTEREST IN A TONAL ROOM AS YOU CAN IN A CONTRASTING ONE. TRY SITTING IN YOUR ROOM, OR LYING DOWN ON THE FLOOR, CLOSE YOUR EYES AND TRY TO IMAGINE HOW YOU WANT YOUR ROOM TO LOOK AND FEEL. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PROJECT, HOPE YOU GET LOTS OF GREAT IDEAS....See MoreHelp with colours, dark hallway.
Comments (8)There’s nothing more welcoming than a bright and inviting hallway as the introduction to your house, so it’s important to capture any available light and lead the eye into the heart of your home. Light and Space If you really want to get maximum light into your hallway, choose a colour from the Dulux Light + Space range. This has revolutionary light reflecting technology which magically captures light, and bounces it back into the room to help open up darker areas. Cotton Breeze is a gorgeous fresh pale blue grey that would really come to life on the walls and ceiling, and tie in with the blue in your floor. Reflections An easy trick to lift a space is to place mirrors in strategic places. Positioning a large mirror on your landing will make your hallway feel wider, as well as bouncing light that comes in from the doorways. Glass light fittings and glazed framed pictures on the walls will also help with catching the light, and making your hallway feel bright and uplifting. Colour play Lighter colours will open up your hallway, but you don’t always have to go for ‘off white’ to get the best solution. With a hint of nautical, Velvet Touch 5 is a gorgeous soft pale duck egg blue that will co-ordinate with your floor tiles beautifully. Go for a matt finish to disguise uneven surfaces, and Endurance+ which is super hardwearing and wipeable - perfect to clean away any sticky fingerprints. Pick out the architectural details such as skirting and coving in Absolute White for a lovely fresh feel. Focal Point The wall that runs up your stairs is a real focal point of your hallway, so bring this to life with a fuller shade such as Velvet Touch 3, or a printed wallpaper. Highlight this wall with a collection of your favourite pictures or family photos, grouped together for maximum impact. Good luck and please let us know what you go for! Comments (7)Hi Julie. Maybe just one wall with it being a busy print and small space. Subtle pales are very in at the moment and are popular for replacing neutrals as a background base. You could pick out one of the bright colours from the florals and use a much lighter version for the paint. For example a pale lemon, pale mint green or a tint of pink would look lovely. The colour may be bright on the paper but you can still compliment it with a lighter pastel to keep the room colourful and vibrant. Good luck with whatever you decide. x...See MoreCoordinating wallpapers across multiple rooms
Comments (6)Thank you both, it's really kind of you to help. The master bedroom is quite large with high ceilings as it would have originally been a drawing room, so I'm planning to paper all the walls in that room as opposed to having just a feature wall. With a complimentary paint colour above the picture rail and the ceiling. Following your advice I think I'll then paint the first floor guest room (come nursery) in one of the warm accent tones from the paper. I've found the paper is also available in a beautiful blue so I'm thinking I'll use this in the front second floor guest room, and paint the second guest room on that floor in a complimentary paint colour. That plan could be boarding a little with the boutique hotel look though which I wanted to avoid : / You've really helped! Thanks so much....See MoreAngela Gilham
