Which shaker kitchen style?

Hi
We have narrowed our kitchen choices down to two - which style do you think looks best? Inframe or not inframe?
We are thinking of Cornforth White for the wall/base units & either Hague Blue or Stiffkey Blue for the island. A light quartz worktop & parquet style flooring.

I'd suggest not in frame. It produces a cleaner line and I think a more modern touch. It would work well if you were to re-paint the cabinets in a different colour as well. Dependant on the light and space, I'd also suggest a change of colour. Go white or light on the walls and opt for a colour cabinet. It works well with the clean lines of the cabinets. Inframe for a more traditional look but both look great. I see that you are buying from DIY Ktchens and we are also considering ordering from them. I would love to know how you find the experience, once it's complete. Can you post on here or message me? I have no idea how the latter works. Maybe I should follow you...?

Thanks for all the advice, unfortunately wall unit doors are too small. Worse of all is that 6 months ago we cleared out the garage and got rid of various side panels which may have worked. Oh well!!! doors are beech, back in late 1990s this was a very popular colour and my kitchen fitter is trying to see if he can find them. He did not think staining would work and I would hate the doors being a slightly different colour worse than the applicances showing. may consider the idea of different colour doors along the bottom

I love both, and they each have their good points and are suited to different settings. As a designer, though, I often prefer the Shaker designs - I don't know why, but they often seem to provide a bit more scope for creativity! Caldicot Kitchens

It's a lovely kitchen. If your question is re layout then I'd post a plan of your room. I might go for a subtle marble effect worktop rather than plain white. I also like the brass handles which IMO work better with the colour than chrome/nickel. The parquet is lovely and you could also consider a darker shade or a colour for the island if wanted. With it's blue undertones I think it would probably work well with F&B railings or LG Basalt.

I'm still torn between the two styles...was decided on Norton (lay-on) but then saw Helmsley (in-frame). My husband prefers Norton & I am swaying back towards it today but come tomorrow...who knows?!! LOL.
I had my kitchen drawn up my KAREN from OnePlan :) on here & emailed my plan across to DIY Kitchens for them to price it up. They put the items you need in a basket for you to keep & then can check out when you're ready.
If you're anywhere near Yorkshire go see their big showroom. You can also order samples from them online.

Thanks for the info LTS. I'm certainly keen to know what you think of your final kitchen and the company.

For what it's worth, I think you will be happy with either as you won't be comparing them once it's installed. The fact that you're dithering now probably means that there's not enough difference to really bother you. Perhaps go for the less expensive option - just a way of deciding. I'm a great ditherer too so can empathise!

I chose not in frame, the second one. I think this gives you a nice balance between traditional and modern and therefore lots of options for how you dress the space. Despite the difference being small, the in frame option is decidedly more traditional. I dont actually think you can go wrong though, they are both lovely :)

Thank you Bath Bespoke. I love that green colour on the cabinets. It's beautiful. The room is west facing & gets lots of light in the afternoon. I think we will go with Norton (lay-on) as it was what we liked but I just had a little wobble!!

Non in-frame give a lot cleaner appearance, whilst I agree, in-frame has more of a traditional feel. If cost is a deciding factor, then it might be worth going for the non in-frame, as in-frame is usually the more expensive option. Colours sound lovely, would love to see pictures of when it is installed!

The most important question to ask yourself is what is the overall aesthetic you want to create for your kitchen? We generally prefer a cleaner look without using the inflame but again it all comes down to what your vision is, what suits the architecture of the house and the aesthetic you are aiming to create.

I think an in-frame kitchen looks better in a large kitchen as all the extra lines from the frames and doors can look too busy in a smaller room. Also for practicality you need wider units as you lose so much space due to the width of the frames so 300 wide units are reduced to only a 260 door. The cost of the doors is usually quite a bit more as there's more to them, installation is going to cost more as there's more items to fit and the number of accessories available is less. One other thing with living with an in-frame kitchen is keeping the insides clean, instead of just being able to give the inside of the cupboard a quick wipe down you have the lip of the frame to contend with. We have our cabinets made so the bottom of the frame is in line with the bottom shelf of the cupboard to get around this.

I would always go for in frame as I think it looks smarter and more elegant but thats just my opinion.
