Haviland Paver Pattern?

This area is being paved.

I'm wondering if the haviland pattern by Calstone, ie this:

would look good in this area? It's 8 feet x 18 feet. Is that area too small for the haviland pattern? Should I use a different pattern with smaller pavers? My end result, using their Mission paver, and the cream/tan/brown color would look like this (except my area is smaller)...

That pattern should be ok, think about doing a stretcher course border (head to toe) of a different color to frame the space.

Without seeing pictures it is hard to say. I would likely recommend sticking with the same material if you are adding on. That way it will not look like an add on but rather it was planned that way the whole time. Too many different materials is not always aesthetically pleasing.

I really wouldn’t go with imprinted concrete. I spent a lot of money on my drive and regretted it hugely. You have to have expansion joins which are unsightly but necessary to stop cracking. Problem is the cracks can still happen so I ended up with huge crack which ran almost vertical to expansion join and also a number of smaller cracks in other places. My neighbour had there’s done same time. They haven’t had significant cracking although much smaller area but colour has faded and stained with oil.Tarmac centre with a gravel edging and granite setts can look very smart and that’s what I would choose over imprinted concrete or block paving if you don’t want the upkeep.

i appreciate that it will not look the same when wet but even when it is I think it still works well, the red when wet is very close to the house colour and will just clash with the house when wet, just my views 😊 I struggle with greys as they sometimes remind me of faded tarmac, the pics that Sonia posted is the sort of idea that I had in mind and remember, when it’s not wet ist dry and you’ll still be looking at it 😉

What does anyone think about these kandla grey porcelain pavers? Does the colour work with inside? Sometimes there’s a hint of purple but most of the time not!

The largest paver is 12x12. The contractor wants to use a 4x8 paver for the border, length ways, ie the paver extends 8 inches in. Bit concerned about that. Actually, that's probably what they've done in the photo above. Only leaves about 7 feet width on the narrower side.

I think you should be fine. 12X12 should give you several full rows across. I like the pattern and the stone color. Do you have the capability of drawing it out on graph paper to see how it looks to your eye?

Now I'm a bit worried.

The contractor has left some stacks of the pavers nearby in prep for paving tomorrow...

I was under the impression they'd be lighter. Here's a photo of a palette of them I took at the supply store...

The ones at the store look lighter to me. I asked the contractor to use the lightest ones he has, but I'm not sure how that will turn out. I really wanted something light, lighter than the concrete. Concerned the pavers look a LOT like the concrete.

There are a lot of variations in the colors. I think they'll be fine. Did he say he picked the lightest available?
