help on colour for paving
I have a “griege” tile inside which tends to be more beige in a lot of lights) and I need to get the outside done as it’s been way too long!
I’m opting for real sandstone and have silver grey (left) and sagar black (right) as two options in a multi size pattern. You can in the photo. Also going for a slate cladding on the retaining walls. Basically not too modern!
Do you think either works?

Comments (2)Hi Vicki, I just got back from Sydney! The weather was beautiful and Im lamenting over the warm sun, but enjoying the festive season in the UK. I am not a plant expert, so maybe a landscape expert or gardener could help you with that part of your design. Architecturally a backdrop / screening plant would make the space feel private and inviting - unless you wanted to screen with battens, curtains or sails of some kind. I would screen with something light looking (as in native and fine, I love grasses but seem to get weird responses when proposing them...) Comments (1)Having looked up the stone you have reference I am not sure if this could be an option for you. I saw these at the Building and Renovation Show last year. Finish depends on how the stone is cut. Comments (17)I wonder if the chemical used on Ugly House was Oxalic acid? It’s used for lightening wood and I used it to remove black marks on my oak worktop. It did the job really well. It is derived from rhubarb leaves and is sold in crystal form which is then mixed with water. You must wear gloves, goggles and a mask as the crystal form is dangerous if inhaled. Comments (1)I have porcelain and Indian Sandstone in my garden. Porcelain comes in different R ratings (R9 - R13). The higher the rater the better the non slip effect. Mine is R13 and is completely non slip even in the pouring rain. The drawback is the non slip finish means it holds onto dirt and can get grubby (mine does), so rather annoying! Never have the R13 indoors as cleaning it is difficult. The sandstone is a natural finish that comes in a riven rustic finish and a calibrated finish which is more modern and straight edged. It comes in many shades from grey, beige, pale green etc. I’m not suggesting what you choose but a paving that is difficult to clean is a right pain! 2 years agoI love sandstone and have it in some of my garden. I prefer the lighter one. You are right to point out that the paving has a variety of colours as it is a natural product. When mine arrived I was shocked how different each slab was but it grew on me.
