First ever kitchen design
Comments (4)Having gone through this process for months myself I understand how mind blowing the option are!...my advice is to think long term....do you want eye level ovens, have you had them before, are they to be a useful addition for a feature when dining?. Also think about how you like to cook and the type of worktop material.....do you have a messy member of the family who will put dirty spoons on your worktop?. I have got a notebook where I scribble down ideas and think about how everything will look from each angle. Remember lighting is important and if off the peg kitchens restrict you find a Joiner and go bespoke. Good Luck....See MoreMy last home ... My first stab at interior design
Comments (0)Finally - a blank page! When we retired, we bought a two bed flat which had been rented for the previous five years so was feeling pretty sorry for itself! I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to find and flex my interior design muscles (the only muscles I ever exercise, let me tell you). I soon found that it is very much a case of not as easy as you think - hats off to the pro's! I identified the main tradesmen budget pretty accurately, thanks to some helpful websites, but hadn't reckoned on how much 'incidentals' would cost. Decent toilet roll holders - sixty quid - who'd have thought? Toilet seats; light fittings; sockets ... all add up. I am not an E-Bayer. We're too old. Here are some before and after pics. I hope to share some of the experiences I had on the journey....See MoreMy first furniture restoration/upcycling project
Comments (2)Wow you have done a great job renovating your mid-century sideboard. I love an upcycling project, and this is a perfect example of when it goes right. This is great inspiration to show people that with a little bit of TLC, you can turn a preloved piece of furniture into something spectacular, like your retro masterpiece. Well done - it looks really sleek and stylish, it will make a great feature in your space! Tarnya Dulux Design Expert www.designer.duluxamazingspace.co.uk...See MoreMy first upholstery project
Comments (0)Most people start with a stool but not me, I start with a wardrobe. My lovely carpenter Ollie built this cupboard from my designs using my Gran's old door. I could have painted it but I had this old duvet cover that I had been saving. Flash of inspiration, lots of swearing and a small blood blister later and here is my newly decorated wardrobe. Never give a determined woman an industrial stapler lol. I do need to finish the drawer but that will be painted like the door. So what do you think? Any tips gratefully received but be gentle x...See MoreA S
