What are your thoughts on Crittall-style windows?
Comments (83)Hi @Jerry Evans thanks for the thoughtful reply - all right on target. We bought the house with the newly installed windows, so the contract was with the previous owners - not us. Would be nice if Crittall would honour their guarantee or even offer any help but they've yet to do the decent thing. They will not toss their installer under the bus for mis-selling them, nor will they obviously go on record saying they're not suitable for a marine/coastal environment. We're happy to be their test lab!. With respect to condensation the thermal break question is a good one - thanks. If there is one it's not visible and seems woefully ineffective. We have trickle ventilation for the house as a whole but it doesn't reach the windows unfortunately. We do have all the usual extractors and we're starting to look at further air circulation/ventilation solutions. Cheers Bill...See More2 bed apt in central London or 4 bed town house in suburbs?
Comments (39)Moved from a lovely 2 bed flat in Ealing to a 3 bed Victorian mid terrace in Hitchin in North Herts on the train line into Kings Cross/Moorgate in 2011. I struggled to leave the city but our town is v lovely and unique for commuterville in that there is a lots on offer on our high street both for shopping and entertainment. That said, we've sold to move a little closer to a big city again. Moving 10 miles north of Brighton later this year. I love our house and the space but after 5 years I feel I need more than there is on offer here and once we leave this town, it's a 30 minute (usually more) drive minimum to get anywhere with more on offer. I'm a city girl through and through and though I can no longer afford to live in one, I need to be close to one. Space is great, but think of what you do with your spare time, though it's pretty fab for where we are, I feel I outgrew this town of 35,000 people in less than 5 years....See MoreWin a design consultation at designjunction - September 22nd-25th
Comments (84)We have just purchased what we hope to be our last house. It is a very big plot and we are looking to knock down and get planning for a very large house over 4 floors. (12,000 sq ft). We know what we want internally however our issue lies with the external look and feel. My wife wants classic new build, with pillar entrance, sash box windows with stone cills or surroundings (Surrey Commuter belt!). I like contempory white, modern, square, glass walls, feature cladded walls with balconies (Beverly Hills!) Our compromise is classic at the front contempory at the rear. We need help! Hopeful designjunction will help offer solutions so we can move forward....See MoreWorktops! Caesarstone, Silestone, Infinit Stone - which stone?!
Comments (74)Hi Rowen, I can't quite identify the knobs/handles in Claire's images (and there are quite a few others in this thread!), but we may be able to help source what you are looking for. We have a variety of hadle suppliers, but one of our favourite for "cup & knob" in a variety of lovely finishes is Crofts & Assinder - crofts.co.uk - a really great, British company with some lovely designs and finishes. Have a browse of the website and see if any are close to what you seek. If you give me an idea of which is the style you particularly like, happy to try and help. Handles are so crucial for the final look of a kitchen - we do tend to get a bit obsessive about them ourselves! John Caldicot Kitchens...See MoreBebe Price
