Home security and Video Bells?

We're in the process of a full house renovation and have been considering security for the house. We're currently looking into the various video door bells that exist. Ring and Skybell seem to be two of the leading products and there are plenty of reviews online (both seeming to have pros and cons) but I am interested to know if any of the houzz community has direct experience of these? Are they worth the money? And/or what have you considered as part of integrating security into your home. I've also seen the Nest outdoor security cameras which look good?!

We got a wired in video doorbell system from Bticino which we really like. It also has mobile backup with a prepaid SIM in case of a failure. We may add a guest unit to our garage so we got a unit that allows you to add two bells. There is an indoor video unit so you can see who is there and an app that allows you to remotely let people in and view who is there (we have a security gate). I can see from my office who is coming to my house and talk to them and let them in if needed. We also have 6 wired in external cameras with night vision that you can also view remotely. The alarm is connected to a private security company who arrives within a few minutes of the alarm. Oh and smoke alarms that are connected to the security company too. I would check Bticino for a more high end option if you are interested. They can offer all of this in an integrated system which is really practical! They also do things like home automation which is fun to have.

I am still not clear on what would be classified as pragmatic home automation. I don't want to go overboard at the same time don't want to leave things which i will repent later. I will think that following I should get done 1. heating control 2. audio control 3. smart meters 3. cctv and alarm things that I would think are luxury or over the top are 1. hvac climate control 2. automated curtains 3. IP controlled lighting system let me know of this is in right direction or got fully wrong. also in UK houses are brick and mortar so once done changes would be very expensive

Home Automation If you already have a home automation such as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple HomeKit you can use voice controls to change your lights bringing a little bit of the future to your present day! If it's more than a simple "Alexa switch the lights on" command this may need a little bit of patience to set up. Using the camera on your phone or tablet and a third-party app such as Hue Camera for Philips Hue (Apple), hueDynamic (Windows), or Hue Matcher (Android) and your lights will synchronise to meet the ambience of whatever you are watching. If for instance, you are plunging into the depths of the Indian Ocean with Sir David Attenborough in The Blue Planet your app will choose the right shade of blue to enhance your viewing. What's more, when tension mounts your lights will change to help intensify the moment! It is even possible to control your ambient lighting when viewing off-screen photographs and paintings. Simply download your preferred app, run through the settings, and position your phone or tablet towards the screen or image. If you're having a party or are simply immersing yourself in your sound apps such as Ambify or Hue Disco use algorithms to work seamlessly with your music. Carolina: just seen your window treatment photo- it didn't come up on my phone for some reason. I do like those half shutters in the bay window. Not so keen on the roller/roman blinds upstairs because they necessitate choosing colours. The rooms are currently occupied by my grownup daughters who I'm trying to ease out! So I don't want to 'decorate' them too much as it might send the wrong message!

Hello, I really like my shopping experience what is https://ajax.systems/ because it is easy to use and install, you do not waste a lot of time, they install it in a day on the other hand it has movement sensors and Very modern smoke sensors, especially that detect problems and send you notifications to your phone, I can also tell you that I don't know much about security and video cameras, but I think you might really like that system, have a nice day .

My previous property had the Arlo security system installed (alarm and doorbell). Everything worked flawlessly and it was a very comprehensive system doing everything we needed it to and more:-

I’m moving into a new property myself in the next 4-6 weeks and for my own place I’ve got my eye on the soon to be released Ring Alarm (2nd Gen) and the new Wired Ring doorbell as the property comes pre-wired for it:-

The only reason for not going with the Arlo myself is cost, but both look good systems. I’ve also got a pre-order for the new Echo Show 10” as my living area is at the rear of the property so having the option to see who’s at the door without getting up is a bonus:-
