Range hood and cabinet spacing

Could you possibly tell me the distance from the corner of the hood and the cabinet beside it please? We are building a new house with the range on the angle like this, and are having major challenges figuring out how to design our custom hood and how it should interact with the cabinets on each side. Our architect wants to close the space but we envision something "freestanding" like this. We know this means the cabinets have to pull away from the hood. I'm willing to sacrifice some cabinet storage for the right look, but obviously want as much cabinet as possible. You have a beautiful kitchen with many thoughtful features here! Thanks for any insight and help you can provide.

Hi Gina,

The kitchen in the photo is 8+ years old, and we no longer have the 2020 design file to confirm the distance from the corner of the hood to the corner of the wall cabinet.

What we can confirm is the 30" corner range in this kitchen required ~ 49 1/2" of space out of the corner (this will be plus or minus depending on your box depth of your cabinetry.) The hood in the kitchen photo is ~ 34 1/2" wide (at the widest point) and ~ 21" deep (at the deepest point). The wall cabinet to the right of the range was designed to line up with the base cabinet below it (again, ~ 49 1/2" out of the corner). This cabinet is ~ 14" deep, including the door.

I used to work for Aga/Rangemaster and their build quality is very good. You could try their customer service team on 0800 8046261 or 0370 7895107 and they will tell you which is lowest noise generating. In addition, I would recommend that you not only check the decibel levels of the models you are considering from the product specifications, but if you can try and listen to other people's hoods and compare to see if you think you can tolerate them in your space. A difficult process, especially as most kitchen showrooms don't have working models just show pieces. Best of luck.

Wow your ceiling must be really, really low then ? Most extractors have to have a gap between 650mm to 760mm between the bottom of them and the hob part of the cooker - so in your case the lid should have clearance even if set at standard height, even if it’s an over depth appliance. What height is the ceiling ? Is the cooker going right into the corner ? Might be useful to have it 150mm from the corner,so you have a small clearance for pan handles on the left.
