Comments (17)Yes to the painting, but you can be very creative, as your panels for both the sides and the door run horizontal, paint two colours, one on every other panel - bit of a faff, but a fantastic effect - and be bold - it is only a shed, and it is only paint. Not sure about the flowers as they need constant maintenance but a couple of tall pots with tall shrubs (you have one but the plant is too small). Also make the patio in front a feature by placing rust proof table and chairs. Also block off the side of the shed which has become a bit of an eye sore....See MoreIs it strange to have the dining room at front of house by front door?
Comments (7)Hi Sharon Laughlin, I would usually like to actually see the space and front window to be able to answer 100% ...but I can tell I have proposed this layout on several similar properties layout packages as it is a very good use of space and the times you use the space actually means it isn't too bad with 'on lookers' or lighting to have it this way round. Choosing the right window dressing can help with any concerns but having a great and usable space inside (where you live) is vital. I would be happy to take a quick look and offer an opinion (free of charge) if you wanted to email me your plan and a picture of the room (gina.everett@createperfect.co.uk). I know it seems like a head ache now.. but it will be worth the additional consideration time in the long run rather than just settling for something because it is the 'norm'. All the best, Gina...See MoreFront door in centre - Living Room Layout Design Hell
Comments (9)Whilst I would also prefer a hallway as the entrance at least you have the porch so people are not immediately in your living room when you open the door. It's a lovely room and i think the existing furniture arrangement is much better than using it as one big space. I'd keep the tv over on the fire side of the room because it will be a cosier space at night and is a feature. It's then away from the staircase which might be draughty and more of a thoroughfare. I also have trouble visualising how the under staircase tv would work.(although maybe One plan has a good idea for this. I'd then use the other half of the room as your snug/reading area with a couple of chairs and bookcase between the two doors. I'd use a large rug to define and bring this area together. You might also have room for a small console type table next to the front door to drop keys, phones etc. Alternatively, if you have your sofa in the same position as the existing pic you could have a sofa table (see pics below, lots of different types depending on your style) behind it for the same purpose as well as adding interest rather than just seeing the back of the sofa. Good luck....See MoreAny suggestions for strange front of house path layout?
Comments (8)I'd ask a couple of landscape gardeners around to create a simple design for that part of your garden and give you quotes for the creation of it. (Ask if they'd do that free of charge.) Since your garden is sloping and you need a flat surface to 'land on' if you go down those steps. You probably need to level the area and have a good solution to retain the soil. The current wooden solution looks a bit wonky (sorry). Landscape gardeners should know which materials to use and what is available on the market....See Moreskateboardstickers
