Cork flooring in a bathroom? Any "real living" experiences?

We have found a lovely cork flooring option we would like to use in our bathroom remodel (Wicander - Flock Moonlight). I have read all the pros and cons and understand that cork can be used in bathrooms if the edges are sealed properly with silicone. We have no children or pets at home anymore. Any input is welcome

We used cork in our bathroom and have one very sloppy teenage daughter who showers a lot and gets water on it regularly. It holds up surprisingly well and is beautiful! I put it down about four years ago and it has been wet a lot. It is extremely durable. I suspect yours will not be subject to the same level of abuse. The only down side to cork that I can see is the cost. It is pricier than other options. The product I used had sealed edges, and came in panels that clicked together. You can find it at most flooring places as well as the big box building supply stores.

A porcelain tile with a slightly wacky pattern could be a good option? We recently did a shower with one of our products and it was certainly different! This is a mixed decor tile where you get a random mixture of patterns to create an almost "crazy paving" look!

Karen, to be honest with you, you do not really need the council's approval (or Lawful Develpment Certificate). As long as you are absolutely sure that what you are doing is within PD, you can just go ahead. The LDC is for future buyers, and can be gained retrospectively. I didn't wait for it on either of my projects - by the time it came from Lambeth I had basically finished the outside of the loft. It is absolutely critical that if you do this, you make sure your plans are compliant though...with loft conversions that is mainly making sure that you do not exceed the maximum additional volume measurements, and that the dormer is set back 20cm from the edge of the original roof. Do make sure your builder is on top of the necessary building control notifications and inspections though - this takes much more effort, and is nothing to do with planning, and absolutely compulsory. Everything from the specification of windows,through insulation depth required, to position of plug sockets is controlled and needs to be correct. Hi Vicky, I think painting the units will definitely make a difference to the kitchen before you have your extension done and that wont be expensive to do, a pastel colour maybe might look nice with the worktop and tiles? Also with the flooring in your bathroom, the cork i agree needs to be changed, you could look at a sheet vinyl which can be put on top of the cork but not give a perfect finish and it would have to be cut around the pedestal and tray which may be fiddly. Some less expensive tiles would work or a karndean effect flooring which can be stuck down, all those options shouldn't be to expensive to do.
