Painting - ~ Not sure on having two focal points ; The large window /door and the nude. I would have zoned the seating area by rug and chose a nature pic of different subject . *Personal preference noted :)

Hubby would love almost anything by Jason Martin; in fact he bid on some of his paintings, but the price always went way higher than estimated. http://www.lissongallery.com/artists/jason-martin I'd love Escher's Relativity. Not because it's my favourite (it's not), but because I could play with it, turning it around every day and spending years deciding which side would look best in my living room light.

I personally would want to know 1. how easy is that paint to apply etc? This is quite a big and messy job to do and knowing me I'd start and probably wish I hadn't half way through! 2. have a serious search online to see if you can find images of homes of your era and type WITH that type of window colour. You don't want it to look like a mismatch! We have those Cotswold soft green painted windows in last house, but went because of the stone and age of house. In fact the local council bylaws insisted they were painted this colour and could order you to return to this colour if you didn't!

Thanks. Oh yeah, we're definately doing other rooms ! The whole house from top to bottom eventually. This room was top priority as it's the sitting room, we wanted to put our 'stamp on the place'. We've only been moved in since the start of the year. This is the before room, taken from the Estate Agents listing: .......... And now (trying to take a pic from the same place) The conservatory is hard to change, pic taken from the Estate Agents listing: ....... And now (taken this morning) - currently has our old sofa in there until we find some conservatory furniture that doesn't look like it belongs in a 1970's old peoples home. Only change is really the addition of blinds The study pic taken from the Estate Agents listing: .......... and now it's my man cave / music room And then .............. The current kitchen is getting ripped out and a new one put in starting 30th May. There is also a dividing wall that's being taken down between the kitchen and dining room to allow for a breakfast bar and a much bigger space. Designs from the kitchen people below Oh, and the double garage is slowly taking shape into the gym: Sorry for picture overload.

Bare plaster is usually prepped with a watered down coat of white paint. I'm not sure of the exact ratio but it's usually very watery and transparent. In your case I might just try going straight to paint application as it was so long ago. Leave the door/s open for a while to get it as dry as possible prior to painting. Just do a small test piece first in any left over colour you have lying around. If it adheres well and doesn't flake its fine to paint. If not you will need to prep first as described above.
