Ideas for the re-design of the front of our house

We live in a 60s detached house the front of which has all the hallmarks of that era - car port, white wooden cladding between the front windows etc.
We are looking for ideas as to how we could do away with the car port and create a new porch/ hallway together with an additional room at the front - all under a new roof. Ideally, we are looking to create a radically different aspect to the front of the house

Individual finishes are personal so if you change the windows or render this is entirely personal. In my humble opinion the size, shape and placement of the windows with this roofline firmly seat this house in its era. I would also caution anyone on having one unusual house in a residential street of similar houses. In my opinion this house would benefit from moving the garage and front door forward (presumably reclaiming some space at the back) and making the front door less subservient to the main house. I think there should be some soft planting near the house too.

Morning! What a great house! Older properties were often added to over time, and sometimes the most beautiful entrance wasn't at the front, as the more attractive aspect was through a manicured garden...equally you would have the day to day access (which we tend to use more these days), and the fancy imposing entrance reserved for special occasions....confusing! In short, I think you should design it to be sympathetic to the architecture and history, but to suit your needs. We use multiple cars and park outside our front doors because carry our own shopping, the Victorians didn't! I think you need to consider the elevations as much as the internal plans, and develop a design in 3D to really understand the benefits you get from various options. Hi Ben, Iactually really like the layout that you have proposed above and would keep costs a little lower in terms of moving things around as the pipe work etc from the existing kitchen would be in the same area as the proposed new kitchen space. The only thing I might say about your proposal is perhaps avoid having the sink on the island - Ive said to a client recently that its rare that washing up ever gets done and dried straight away so you could end up with a beautiful kitchen but a constantly cluttered island. I actually thinking keeping the sink under the window will look nicer and keep the island clutter free! But the hob on the island with a downdraft extractor would look great - my client recently had theirs installed (apologies this was a photo that they sent so its not great but i hope you get the idea!) I actually also think the layout with the tv and chairs and dining room is great maybe consider adding a over hang on the island for some high seating to create another informal social/dining space? Thanks for your suggestions. We have decided to extend the porch under a gable ended roof and demolish the car port. The only remaining problem is what to do with the white wooden cladding? Also, when the car port is demolished there will be holes to fill/cover up on the house and garage wall and we would also dearly like to get rid of the white wooden cladding above the garage door! We could replace the wood cladding with hanging tiles and continue them across the front of the house. Or is there some more modern cladding that we could use and continue it all across the front of the house, down the side of the garage and across the top of the garage door? Or just render the whole of the front of the house?
