Comments (22)We have vertical blinds but do find they can be temperamental - crossing over each other, getting stuck in the tracks etc and sometimes the little loops between them break (we have children...). Also if you have any damp or condensation on that window it can make the blinds a little grotty after a while so they need an eye keeping on them for that. The frosting or otherwise obscuring the lower part of the window from outside view is a smart idea as you retain the joy of the shape from inside. In the Netherlands (and other countries do it too I'm sure) I saw lots of little window displays facing onto the street which were quirky and did block the view into the house....See MoreAwkward shaped window but the view is jaw dropping!
Comments (6)I would opt for a simple roman blind fitted into the frame and following the sloped shape at the top. It would have a triangular flat portion at the top until you got to the right side lowest corner and then cascade down from there on the horizontal. Hope this makes sense as tricky to describe without sketching. You could have a metal geared chain at the side to operate it. If there are any children around keep the chain up at a very high level to avoid any accidents. You can get retainers to keep them at a safe level. (This has now become H&S regulations in the UK - Google 'child safety regulations with blinds' if you need more info)....See MoreHow to make the most of amazing view?
Comments (11)I would put the large chesterfield facing the window (where the grey fabric chair is) and have the fabric chair at an angle in the bay (facing the fire place) with a table next to it. Move the TV from above the fireplace - I think a TV above such a lovely fire detracts from it. You could put it on the opposite wall where the small two seater leather chesterfield is. (Do you need to keep all three seats?) Put a table in front of the fire place so it brings the furniture together, making it a comfortable space rather than a waiting room feel. If you do keep the TV where it is (and keeping all chairs) I would situate the chairs closer around the fireplace as photo show above. And put a free standing unit on the small wall. Keep the wall colour light so the room is flooded with light. Look forward to seeing the end photos. Shannon...See MoreKitchen window view, what to do with an odd 44+ metre path
Comments (12)Thanks, all of the above I reckon! Between B&C would definitely do well with arches and climbers, it could turn into more of a haven for the Robins to nest, and the rear of that garden already has climbers.... On the bend, I'm going to double secure it with a secondary gate and may pay to put up some "private land" signs to make it clear its not part of BT and someone owns it. BINS! We generate an enormous amount of recycling, and our 11yr old can make a mess with it to boot. The bins do go down the main driveway and I wont change that since its the best route, however that is all at the front entrance end of the house, rubbish going out via the living and office. I was thinking about putting a tidy bin enclosure next to the gate which is at the house end of the drive, across the way from the house. While the big pile of soil is out front (left by ex owner from digging garage foundations), the refuse ends up right outside my lovely new entrance in a mess. The only reason I considered the path for rubbish was convenience, regardless that it would still go all the way down the driveway once a week, as taking rubbish out would be right by the laundry/kitchen door because that is where the path is. Neighbour #3 are new, moved in yesterday. They have unruly bamboo up against their back wall. With that part of the path being say between wall and curb stone, which should keep it contained, I could suggest to them that we re-plant it in my path an free up the end of their garden and be able to see the nice wall they have. These would be far easier to remove then tree would be a long time down the line..... I just REALLY dont want to become responsible to have to go into BT with a hedge trimmer though.... Ive already got an ENORMOUS garden to maintain......hmmm...See Moretaflanagan
