What type of wood stove/fire place is that?

I love your wood stove. Did you have to order it special or is it one that you can buy in store or online? What is the brand and approximately how much did it cost? Does it do a good job of heating the house?

The stove is by Jotul, Model: Lillehammer. The cost is approx. $3000 with the double wall flue.

We do have a Steptoe's up here not far from us but it's (dare I say it) wretched! Dark, not clean, badly organised. The one near you, though, AMAZING! We go down every year and take two big cars (we have a Picasso and our friends who live in Devon have a Forester), lol, fill them to the brim every year:) Last year we ended up shipping a lot of it back to Scotland as otherwise we wouldn't have got us, the luggage, and the Roo in to go home!

Nothing beats the romantic flickering flames of a real fire. There's something magical and timeless in having a wood burning stove with its unrivalled warmth and furnace-like glow. Add to this the aroma of a log scented room, the crackles from the fire, and seasoned wood alight with its hypnotic white-hot centre! Dreamy! The final ingredient... a large mug of hot chocolate... Just wow! Who would want gas or Indeed television for that matter?

If you positioned the wall in line with the chimney breast we could take the flue up and tap into the chimney breast and line the chimney with a free standing stove if that's what you mean?

The pipe in the marble one may be a gas pipe where someone may have had a gas fire inserted there. If it is, then a gas engineer will be able to remove it and seal the end for you. It may be an idea to get all the chimneys swept before you decide to use them for a fire.
