boot room conservatory ideas please

I live in a new build semi detached home which I love- with one exception. There is no vestibule. My previous home - also a new build had an inner door at the front entrance and I installed a small conservatory at the other door. When you have an indoor cat, it’s all the more important- as is a space to take off shoes, dump coats etc. Looking for ideas for a conservatory for the rear of the house which will have the patio doors opening on to it. Very limited budget, however

I never understood why people don't build their conservatory for year round use. It's all about light and heat control. Automatic sun reflective shades along the roof windows will keep the room from overheating in the summer and even help keep it warm in the winter. Proper wall and ceiling insulation, double or gas permeated triple glazing will keep it comfortable year around with the right heating. Add a wee wood stove in a corner with a simply pipe chimney and you have yourself a lovely winter sun room to brighten your cold winter days. If you live where there is snow, even better. It'll feel like a wee slice of paradise.

I was thinking about why your husband is not keen on using it. Personally I find myself feeling unable to relax in a conservatory because of a lack of privacy. There are two solutions to this problem- you could treat it like a room and add surround. I would probably buy lots of muslin and tent the ceiling and drape it around curtain poles, ponding the curtains on the floor. Alternatively you could fill it with tall plants, make it feel like an old fashioned Victorian glass house and add a small bistro table and chairs. Lastly perhaps because this was formally your work space he doesn't feel like it is part of the house. Perhaps he should be come up with a plan for how to use it.

I think it would make a lot of difference if you had outside lights highlighting plants and keep the light level very low in conservatory itself so your eye is drawn outside when you look that way. I’d be doing everything I could not to highlight the white frames of the conservatory at night. A bit like Beano said about gloss white v Matt white on sofa I would be really tempted to paint the frames Matt white. And I would be hanging plants in the conservatory itself too and positioning some soft lights to highlight plants. (Tbh if this conservatory is being used often at night I would have to paint the frames a dark green or grey or black)

Thanks Jonathan So for me it will be Essential 1) Strip the whole house down 2) Then rewiring 3) Heating, radiators and combi boiler 4) Replace conservatory roof, with a better, all year round roof 5) Take down the wall between the kitchen and diner, to create an open diner. Insert a RSJ in place of the original wall 6) New kitchen, designed and provided by Wren ( yes I know, loads of negative comments) with 0% finance and a promise of 20 years guarantee from Wren, to repair/replace any damages. From all my google searches, it seems that a kitchen depends more on the fitter than the material used. A great fitter would even make Wren look good! 7) Skirting and internal doors. 8) New flooring all through the property, carpets in lounge and bedrooms 8) Decoration and painting ------------------------------------ Non essential or second round, if I am still standing!! a) Utility room b) Bathroom c) Upgrade conservatory, windows etc Seems like a plan?
