Mid century bedroom/sitting area
Comments (3)Hi. It looks really good. Perhaps another colour to break up the ochre like a really deep teal cushion? Maybe a large'ish plant next to the tv which will break up the warmth of the cabinet and wall. You could also add a taller mid century ceramic/s to the cofee table. I can't obviously see the whole room but you may want to consider a rug to zone the seating area. Just a suggestion but maybe move the floor lamp to the side by the window and move the tv over a little....See MoreFlooring for sitting room and dining area
Comments (8)Some of the laminates look pretty good but as you're using it in a dining area I'd go for something that is waterproof. The cost of fitting laminate will also be cheaper than wood. It sounds as if a more traditional floor would suit the room from what you've described. If you went for an oak I would try and break up the browns with a rug and accessories. Another option is to paint the doors if you wanted a modern floor but in any case I'd pick a grey which also has warm tones in and there are plenty around. What's the period of the house though and the overall style? If you can I'd try and bring home samples to see how they work with the doors...See MoreNeed help for kitchen and sitting area design....
Comments (33)Hi so this is what I had in mind. Although it ideal I think it would be too expensive for now to remove that lone cupboard. So an idea would be; 1. Paint the walls white 2. Paint the cupboards pale grey: http://www.farrow-ball.com/paint/Paint-For-Kitchen-Cupboards 3. Get nice oak laminate floor from Homebase or B&Q 4. It may cost between £200 and £300 to fit the floor with underlay. But totally worth it. 5. Cheap grey sofa (maybe not corner sofa) or second hand sofa, max those dimensions on the plan. I bought two cheap ones from Homebase for our back room and they're totally fine. 6. Farmhouse table with bench / Eiffel chairs 7. Tv bench and side table from ikea 8. If you keep the freestanding fridge paint it with chalkboard paint. http://www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk/wrust-oleum-black---chalkboard-paint---750ml-125028 I'll post some photos of the sort of look I had in mind....See MorePaint sitting room F&B Downpipe
Comments (13)I've never been a fan of dark walls, but I do think they can look stunning. However I have changed my mind now.! We sold my late mum's house last year - it was decorated to rent out in the usual cream walls, oak floor and beige neutral carpet. We noticed it was up for rent again (owner going abroad to work for a while) so ideal opportunity to have a nose online! Wow they had totally redecorated it in a mid century style. Walls were a mix of white and very dark grey throughout with trendy 60's style artwork. The main bedroom was stunning in dark grey walls and white bedding. It's not something I would have ever done, or even had the imagination to do, yet it looks fabulous. I would therefore say go for it, if you're a little wary just do a feature wall in the dark colour and do the rest white. Good luck!...See MoreLynn Robbo
