Finish on the island top

Looks like an acrylic finish??? What is the finish and how does it wear for a busy island?

The island is American Elm with a walnut finish and then sealed. As far as wear and tear, it does fairly well although it is NOT heat resistant.

I think it would look fine, although I prefer brushed nickel and would have that over chrome for the faucet anyway.

Possibly a waste of money building a porch? Paint the door a nice colour, add some plants either side as in the first pic and a nice door number and lantern on the wall is all I think you need.

If you go for a quartz or other solid surface, then any fabricator should be able to do a table for you. You need to face the back with something, we used mdf when we did it, and attach legs of your choice. In laminate you would need to buy a breakfast bar type top and use edging strips on the ends, so would have width limitations.
