Help with bedroom and ensuite

We would like to add an ensuite to our bedroom. There is a loo next door which could be knocked through and we could maybe take some space from the landing and bedroom but I'm worried it will be too small. The obvious option is to extend into the space at the top of the stairs but I really don't want to lose the window onto the garden as it's the only one onto the landing. Any ideas would be very much be appreciated, thanks.

Comments (2)We did both and I agree with the other comment-keep the en suite above a bathroom if possible as it's a nightmare to reorder pipes etc otherwise. For fitted wardrobes, we (personally) found the usual companies absolutely useful and incredibly expensive. We had an idea of what we wanted and went for a private joiner-he undercut by half so it totalled £2700 for the wardrobes (built in under attic hanging space, full length wardrobe, 2 oddly shaped cupboards, 2 waist height cupboards, chest of drawers with seat & bedside tables.). Comments (9)Sorry but I agree with Jonathan and Sarah. The room could feel luxurious given its size, but shower room seems too narrow. I had similar size in old house (width of shower) as I wanted as much space in bedroom as I could. It was done well so looked ok but felt far from spacious inside. I ended up with bedroom bigger than I needed but pokey shower room which was used a lot. If you made it longer towards where wardrobes are planned, could you have something like this on the other side (where one of the sofas are)? Your bed could stay where it is now rather than as shown in the attached. Incidentally my parents have exact same layout you are proposing. Their wardrobes are not walk in though, just L shaped. 6 years agoI've tried to do a rough floor plan of the whole upstairs, some of the scale is a bit off but hopefully it makes sense. It's a slightly odd layout due to two previous extensions not done by us, I think the open landing area must have been the previous bathroom.
