Colour scheme for north facing room
Comments (3)White Tie would be a great solution - it is a fresh & a warm off white with yellow tones which will really help in a North facing room. I would avoid Joa's white as it has quite a pink tone. Why not also put a very large mirror on the back wall - this will help bounce more light around. If you want to add some interest, paint the door & wall around it in a deeper colour....See Morehelp! white paint for north east facing sitting room
Comments (7)We used white cotton in our north facing room which is lovely and light but not as strong as brilliant white. Skimming stone and cornforth white are also lovely shades but a bit more to them than just a standard white. We always paint a tester in the room we're going to decorate, as its amazing how a grey can look like it has hints of lilac in a different light. Also allows you to check it doesn't clash with the flooring colour (a friend of mine recently had decorators in only to realise after the walls didn't compliment the carpet). Good luck on your project....See MorePlay Room - Colour Choice for North East Facing Room
Comments (9)Hi Debbie. I hope it's all going well so far for you! You have some great ideas. When north light is involved I would stay clear of whites with green or blue undertones or infant, those colours. You want to enhance the warm. Try a white with a red or yellow undertone. This will easily pair with yellow so great on the rug. I would choose this white first and then when a test patch is up (or you have one on paper) I would look at a suitable green to work with it. For adding fun and to break up the block colour I would add a mural/sticker to the wall (someone like ink vinyl) they are reasonable priced and very easy not only to put on, but more importantly, to remove in a few years without leaving a mark as tastes change! :) You have a great start to the space and I look forward to seeing your ideas come together. Well done...See MoreURGENT white & navy paint names needed for north facing room
Comments (43)Hi Tani. Mmmm. Mixing colours by hand can be tricky in large quantities which is why I suggested taking a small sample of your existing paint first and and seeing how other colours change it. For sampling you can use any acrylic paint (acrylic has similar properties to emulsion) as you’re just trying to identify which colour you need for mixing, could be other tester pots, kids acrylic paints, artists acrylics etc. but when doing the final mix I would use the same brand and finish paint. In theory (and from memory) to make a dark navy blue lighter and warmer you’d need more of a dirty peach colour then add this to the navy at approx 1 part peach to 10 navy then add more if needed. All a matter of trying and testing. Having said all this it may be possible to sell the paint you have now (after all navy is popular atm) and get another colour....See MoreJuliet Docherty
