New kitchen design help!
Comments (9)Hi Petra Have seen your wish list image and think I can visualise something! I think the layout with the hob on the wall is better anyway for the size you have to play with. Am a little uncertain about units on legs or floating units even - as stated before, they get v dusty underneath - I will post an image for you below - but in my opinion, this only works if you can stand well back from the units to appreciate the fact that they are are on legs or floating, otherwise you don't get the impact. I would definitely go for light units and a light worktop or else it will look v dark - because you have a lovely hardwood floor, I would possibly go for a Quartz/granite top ( budget permitting!) and possibly have the breakfast bar in a different material - possibly wood - so that you are mixing different materials. I think you have quite an exciting project on the go! - Use tiles to your advantage to visually elongate the walls and I would go for some very funky bar stools to compliment. Please keep your journey posted on here! Good luck....See MoreNeed help with my kitchen design plan
Comments (15)I think the layout is fine but could probably do with a few tweaks. For me, the island is too long and space you have either side is on the right side. I like to work on a minimum of 1 metre between island and wall/units. The island as it is is tighter than that and I think it will look pretty squashed on the side with less than 900 mm. As mentions on an earlier comment, the length of the island will mean you'll need a joint if using Quartz or granite. If you can shrink the island length ways then reducing the width would look right proportion wise and that would give you the extra room you need. I wouldn't worry about the fridge being too far from the sink, kitchen diners these days can be large areas and if you want a design like yours or a feature American fridge run its common to have the fridge further away. As long as Bob is near sink for emptying pans of hot water you'll be fine. If you're looking to avoid having the same as what you already have then I think that general theme for the layout is on the right track...See MoreF&B black blue vs off black kitchen units
Comments (115)Hello! It’s arrived but is being fitted Monday :0) The colour wasn’t quite what I wanted as although it’s not supposed to have any blue in it, if can look blue in some lights. I don’t mind it looking deep navy but sometimes it looks lighter. Will see when it’s all up though as with the worktop on the island and overhang, it will probably just look more black! Bear in mind the company didn’t use actually F&B paints as they mix their own. Definately advises paying for a test door first as they got the colour totally wrong at first (was bright blue!) and it was hard work getting the manufacturers to check it and do it again. They almost didn’t....See Morecorian vs quartz
Comments (8)It's a tough questions, corian doesn't stain and is repairable but does scratch easily, quartz can stain and can't be repaired but doesn't scratch anywhere near as easily, both aren't the best with heat, neither is granite, all shouldn't have extreme heat directly applied to them. Price wise, pure coloured corians are usually cheaper than pure coloured quartz, but then patterned corians are usually more expensive than patterned quartz/granite. Both have pros and cons and I think it ultimately comes down to how you use the kitchen and what style you want. We have both on display in our showroom and we sell both just as much....See MoreChristine Smith
