Hi, is there a rule to wall hanging a mirror above a dressing table?

Is there a specific gap you should leave between dressing table & mirror? The mirror is a large rectangular window pane mirror. And If hanging on the same wall as a window, would you line it up with bottom of the window so it is in line (top of window is too high, needs to be low enough to use when sitting at the dressing table)? Thank you for your expertise, trying to get it just right!
