Lounge colour paint advice

Can anyone advise me on what colour to paint my walls. This is a sample colour of my sofa but is a shade darker than what is showing on the picture.

Hello Mandy, I've had a professional come and suggest a colur scheme for my lounge. The best advice she gave was to focus on how much natural light we got during the day, my lounge faces North, so only get sunght for a few hours per day. I am avoiding cooler shades of paint, initially had intended on teal or slightly lighter. I have settees in virtually the same colour as yours and we chose a Farrow & Ball paint in a colour called Peignoir (a sort of greyish-pink)and then chose accessories in various dark red shades. This makes the room look very warm and welcoming when the light is low. Hope this helps!

Thank you. I will have a look. My lounge is north facing but i have a large window so lots of light.

Painting the frame maybe a good idea. Maybe a deep, dark on-trend blue would work nicely. I have attached a few pictures of the room set at Grand Designs Live. I didn't use mine on the walls as you suggest because it did not fit the scheme.. but I have suggested it to many clients that have come to see the set including one visitor who is using it to display Vinyl Records as they are coming back into fashion :) Do let us know what you decide to do. Hi. Did you manage to look at their curtains? I think pattern for cushions is fine and plain linen curtains would look fab. I'm not sure if I preferred your previous layout (Although it may be the camera angle making the tv the focus!). Have you tried the chair next to the tv with maybe a floor lamp? The wall colour is meant to be something like F&B oval room blue or F&B suggest inchrya blue with your walls. Just thinking it brings the fire more into the focus? You could paint the unit the same colour and just varnish the mantel. If in budget I would consider a glass coffee table (with a shelf for books underneath) to complement your mirror and move your teal jars and flowers on there? I'd hang your art behind the small sofa and maybe a smaller piece for behind the chair. Not sure what you think though?

So Skimming Stone is very close to Ammonite in terms of Value (lightness) but it is more colourful than Ammonite, as it has a bump more Chroma. Increase in Chroma can help towards combating gloominess in a space. Lower Chroma colours are much more influenced by the changes in light. Pointing is the lightest of all the colours you have mentioned, but sits in between both Ammonite & Skimming Stone in terms of Chroma. That quantity of Chroma is still likely to help keep the trim looking crisp as the skirting is likely to have less Chroma. Because of it’s location on the Color Wheel & the fact it has low Chroma, there is a chance it might shift blue in imbalanced light. It doesn’t mean it will happen in your space, but it may. So again, testing on moveable lining paper is helpful. It’s in those dimmer spots where colour shift may happen.

We moved into a house with a north facing bedroom and it’s taken me until this winter to realise how much I absolutely hated the grey on the walls. I’ve repainted it James white (very pale green) and changed the curtains and even in the gloom of January it’s a lovely bright space now. North facing dark rooms are ok if they’re snugs or tv rooms but if you ever want to feel awake and alive I think they need the lift of lighter hues... I agree with colourhappy- live in it for a bit and see. I get the need to minimise upheaval- I have 3 tiny kids, but it’s worth getting to know your space in all weathers first!

It's a really complex issue and I think lot of it depends on the flooring. Flooring is a huge area in any room and if it's a natural wood colour then than can make a difference to the effect that paint has on walls as the floor will be a warm colour. Have you any pictures of the room?

No i haven't a picture as i'm having all new that's why i want to get it right. The colour carpet i have chosen is the westex ultimate twist, colour quartz which is a cream/stone/grey colour!
