Would you go from timber to uPVC?
We recently posted before and after pictures of an Edwardian farmhouse that went from having timber windows to uPVC. The new windows were from our Elite sliding sash collection, which complies in conservation areas and provides an easy-to-maintain alternative to timber.
In case you missed it, here's that before and after again:
A number of people seemed surprised by both the homeowner's choice, and that the uPVC could fit so well with a period home. It got us thinking - would you ever make the switch to uPVC from timber? Why or why not? Vote below and let us know your reasoning in the comments!

Comments (77)@Tani H-S Most professionals that refurbish uPVC windows will spray. You need the right equipment, you must prepare the surfaces properly before applying and most importantly you need the right paint (that properly bonds to the surface, has UV protection and thermal movement elasticity). Comments (4)Thanks Tani. Yes, the sofa we are considering get is quite deep, so think it's going to be better on the opposite wall. I think we'd prefer a regular sofa rather than a corner sofa, but I think once the work is done we'll mark the space out with tap to see how it feels. We'll probably have an ottoman rather than a coffee table so we can perch on that and guests on the sofa for additional seating. Regarding the light, we were living in the house for 6 months and had the couch in Opt 2 and there is about an hour of the late afternoon where the sun does hit that wall, but it's either going to be in our eyes or on the TV, so either way the curtains are going to be have to closed!...See MoreHelp, would you go for the 'wow' factor?
Comments (9)So what door/s is there currently? could you just swap for glazed? I really like the idea of seeing through from the front to the back but it is rather expensive! I’ve just had a quick look through your previous posts. I can’t see the door in question but the front appears to face south so presumably you will be borrowing a lot of light? The costs do seem pretty high btw but have no experience, I’ve only removed one loading bearing wall but the cost was nothing like that ( the 8k building work)...See MoreEmily
