What type of door
Comments (14)Hi Andy, Medina Joinery manufacture bespoke timber windows, doors and Roof Lanterns in our workshop in Hayling, Hampshire but deliver to all of the UK. Have a look at our website gallery for ideas. We would recommend using Accoya® wood as it is the material of choice for window and doors. Not only does it have extremely low thermal conductivity but it is more durable and dimensionally stable than the best tropical hardwoods. It can be opaque coated or, for those wishing to enjoy the natural look of wood, transparent coated. Accoya®’s low maintenance requirements add to its cost effectiveness and environmental credentials. These are some we have made recently: Call us on 023 9263 7380 for more details...See MoreWhat type of door would be best
Comments (1)My living room door opens into the room not the hall (second pic). So you could have the door opening inwards against the longer wall in your living room? Or how about a barn door, first pic?...See MoreRemoved UPVC porch doors... What to do about the split colour in porch
Comments (6)Thanks both for your help, my only issue with the white apart from the cleanliness is fact that we would have to stop at the edge of the brick and then carry to paint the top part white too, and I actually quite like the original stone colour. That’s why I was thinking a grey beige to kind of blend with the original.. but then it’s committing to carry on right through the porch and where to stop😂🙈 Does anyone know if you can clean/strip paint off brick? Doubt it as assume would soak in...See MoreCan I remove inner door and extend into the porch?
Comments (12)This depends on the size of the porch and the construction of the porch. Adding a porch to the space inside is basically classed as an extension to your livable space. So as long as the porch area if with in the permitted development allowance then you can do it with out planning. Although it also has certain requirements within the construction too. You need a U value of 0.28 to meet the minimum building regs. Or an R value of 3.6. A single skin brick has an R value of around 0.44 so it wouldn't meet regulations. You would need to be looking at adding a second skin around a single skin porch or redoing with an external wall insulation. You would be best to get a builder around to have a look and see what you would need to do (if anything) to add the porch to the property without a joining door. I hope it helps a little. Thanks, Gina...See Morenmlondon
