Niche

I realise there are tiles around the niche, but do you think the niche could be set into a painted plaster wall rather than a tiled wall? Would it look 'right?'

Hi Cath. Yes indeed a plaster wall would still work - but do ensure you uplight or downright the niche to get the effect. Uplighting a colour glass vase would give a stunning effect against a plain plastered wall. Alternatively, you could use a contrast paint colour in the niche with downlighting which would work well. Thank you.. I have only seen them on walls that are tiled. I am thinking of putting one above our toilet which is on the same wall as a 1500 vanity in our powder room. Above the vanity will have a mirror but the area above the toilet is currently empty. You give me hope!

I'd put a mirror in it with some LED candles in front or you could have a nice display with spot light. You could also cover it up with art, mirror or some fancy wood paneling that is larger than the tv niche. Could also be a useful storage area for small bits and bobs. Just thinking about safes that are hidden behind a painting like in the movies:)
