fireplace and gas fire or woodburner dilemma

We have a 1930s semi with a fireplace we'd like to keep. The chimney is blocked with insulation but could be opened up again. We'd like the fireplace to be a focal point and make the room feel cosy but don't need it to produce much heat as we've insulated under the floor and the external walls. It would be good to have a secondary heat source that would work in a power cut. I'd like an inset wood burner but my other half likes the idea of a flueless gas fire (these worry me). I'm not keen on an open gas fire like the one that was there when we moved in because of the draft from the open chimney. What would be the best option in this situation? What haven't we considered?
flueless gas fire
inset woodburner
