HELP! So my bedroom is very boxy and hard to redecorate can anyone give me any tips to make it look more open?

Comments (3)It's a great size and I love the idea of grey. Why not paint the two recessed areas a darker grey to make them appear deeper. Maybe Farrow and ball, Purbeck Stone 275 for the recesses and the rest of the walls Ammonite 274. This will make it feel much more light and airy and create some more interest. I think the furniture looks fine where it is. Make sure the bed is central between the door and the window. I would then make a feature of the chimney breast. Either add a photo wall or a large mirror, or series of smaller different sized mirrors to add inetrest and bounce the light around. Then some artwork above the bed to introduce as splash of colour. Comments (85)It looks great, I'm glad you and your daughter are so pleased and she has lots of room for friends over, playing etc. It can also be easily and cheaply adapted as she grows if she wants. My only criticism (if you can call it that) is that if not already your daughter may soon also want the desk to double up as a dressing table and therefore I think a mirror was a good idea but the memo board (which looks great) can always be moved as and when needed. (I thought i'd posted a comment on that previously but obviously not!). I might also add a desk light there for working during winter months. 5 years agoIt looks like a lovely room with a large window, lovely floor and amazing storage. I personally would go for an off white on the walls, and add metallics and plants. I'd get 2 matching bedside tables, and replace the vertical blinds with a Roman blind to soften the space. Dressing the bed would make a huge difference too.
Having said that, it's a blank canvas. Are there any styles you are considering?
