shower trays... Has anyone had one of these?

Looking to get a dark grey slate/stone effect shower tray to blend into some dark floor tiles and wondered if anyone has used one of these style and if they are any good??

I ask because they don't seem to have a rim around them and although the seller said they can be used for both wet room style and standard showers, it seems odd the water will be collecting around the glass/tiled wall edge instead so I thought I would check..

Update on the shower tray. It doesn't leak! Shower room is still a slight work in progress but nearly there.

Ha! I just had this exact one installed this morning and asked the builder the same thing! He said the screen will seal it. The screen isn't here yet so I'll have to wait and see.

For great value I would use blinds 2 go. You measure your own, put in the details and about a week later blinds delivered and they fit perfectly - I find it worth the extra £10-20 than messing with cutting. I have black out rollers from them and will be getting Roman blinds at a later date. I think the only option for the round window (without expensive bespoke) is to get a small blind outside of recess - prob roller to maximise light in

I think I’ve found a couple online for around £190
It’s an 800 x 1000 - not sure on the brand though

Sounds like a bargain. Mine is 800 x 1100 Maybe check the spec ( weight, thickness etc) with the Screwfix version, and if it's the same go for it? Have you got a professional fitter for when it arrives? It's common for them to either be damaged or get damaged on arrival ( due to their size and weight they are easily chipped), and having someone who knows what they are doing to manhandle it and check it would be an advantage I think.

Did you get the black one by any chance and is it like a jet black or more of a matt dark grey/black??

I ordered a graphite one which arrived today and it was a light grey which won’t go at all with my planned tiles
I’m told the black one is very black but was hoping it wouldn’t be too stark and would go better with dark grey tiles?
What do you think?

I'm not an expert so I don't want to alarm you, but I'm a little sceptical the screen will make it watertight. I feel there will be too much water trying to find its way between the tray and the screen and the walls also.

I hope I'm wrong and you will receive the correct advice.

It's quite a long way down the post, she says it's from JT Trays, https://www.just-trays.co.uk/products/jtsoftstone/. It's a softstone tray, not a resin tray, and it's slightly soft underfoot. Also notes in the comments section that is holding up really nicely!

Hi Tani H-S , it was described to me as slate grey but it looks to me ( see photos above) to be nearer black than grey.

Yes it does look black - I wondered if it was a jet black though or more of a muted soft black? I might have to swap my tray but worried the black would be too stark!

Muted soft black I'd say. Just like slate but without the iridescence /blue tones that you get in real slate. I'm planning to pair it with white wall tiles/grey grout and floor tiles that match the shower tray itself, so it kind of merges with the floor visually, despite being a step up from the floor.

ED re the screen forming the water barrier at the front, I'm trusting the builder. I didnt ask specifically for a flat tray so I presume he's fitted a lot like it and is happy with how they work. Any issues he'd have to sort it out so it's not in his interest to choose something that doesn't work. He's done a lot of work for me already and is quick to argue with me if I suggest anything unworkable. I've noticed the drain hole is huge compared to a bath, I guess to prevent water build up underfoot. I'll update once the plumbing has been done and the screen is done but it'll be a while as I'm saving for the next phase!

Fantastic! Looking great! We are still boarding up in ours but ended up getting a white tray as I couldn’t find the right colour grey in time for them to fit it :0(
