Comments (132)They are lovely handles Patrina. I'm having a bit of a handle issue since the holes in the pull handles on the four drawers are 83mm centre to centre and there are not many options with that sizing in brushed brass. I've found a couple of possibilities from china but with the problems there I'm not sure how long they will take to arrive....See MoreDingy bathroom, shoestring budget
Comments (9)The other thing is that you do not need to keep much in a bathroom. All one really needs is soap/shower gel shampoo and conditioner in shower stall, toothpaste, dental floss soap/handwash on basin. One toilet roll and a spare, a toilet cleaning brush, one handtowel. Consider how much room the shaving person needs for the size and position of the hand basin, and room for placing the gear while shaving. A shallow mirrored bathroom cabinet should handle all that. Unless you really like a bath even toddlers can be showered. Everyone to bring their own towels and toothbrushes from their own rooms. Plenty of hooks and towel rails. Maybe there is room for a set of shallow shelves with sliding doors on the way to the bathroom for extra soap, toilet paper, cleaning products. Pharmaceuticals in separate safe cupboard and cosmetics keep in own rooms. You want a tidy utilitarian space. Non-slip floor, if tiles grout in mid grey to avoid dark mold or pale soap scum staining. Skylight if possible if window does not give much light. Laundry chute or hamper somewhere on way to bathroom....See MoreHelp to change the front of my ugly 80's (infill) house?
Comments (31)Hi Malley. Thank you for asking my advice! For what it's worth here goes; I agree with you that no extension of the front window is needed, the oak framed porch with A frame exposed, extending further out as per celery girls input with wisteria and box plants looks great. Regarding colour, I'm afraid I disagree about the brown windows, to me they scream 80's developer taste and are very dating and clash with the red. If you are going to go to the expense of replacing the windows to enlarge the apertures I would consider grey or grey/green grey/blue, these will all tone nicely with the red brick, white would be too harsh. Love the idea of the juliette window BTW. Do a search in Houzz for red bricks and grey windows, you will get a lot of images to think about. I'm not sure I agree that adding solar panels to the roof will be an improvement, yes they will break up those tiles, but they are not a thing of beauty are they, could they be on the rear instead? If budget did allow, after you have done your extension, windows etc I would look into the cost of replacing those roof tiles with slate as again I think they are dating, but agree with Daisy that it would probably be expensive and would not increase value on the house. Best of luck!...See Moredecorating ugly bathroom
Comments (16)Lucky it's a white suite though and fairly inoffensive wall tiles though. There's not much to paint so I'd keep above the tiles a bright white (maybe needs another quick coat)? Seems to be kids with the bath toys so a small unit in front of the radiator might be good but if you don't need more storage, what about a freestanding towel rail with some nice fresh towels on? Presuming you're not wanting to drill into the tiles, you could buy a shower curtain you like, and cut and staple it over a lightweight canvas (cover a cheap one from B&M/the range etc) and cover as much of the plain tiles above the loo to create the look of wallpaper? Might be able hang these in other places too but hard to see with the angle of your photo. Or I'll se them as shower curtains, if you haven't got a glass screen?? I googled botanical shower curtains following Sonia's inspophoto. And then like others have said, some vinyl flooring to freshen it up. Wood effect will add warmth, the terrazzo one or tiled one below would be my faves though. Good luck...See More
