Where to place TV and sofa

Fortunately as a first time buyer I'll be moving into my new flat in 2 weeks! My plan for the first week is to repaint the walls and finish it.

Currently I'm stuck on the size of sofa to get and where to place the tv unit for the living room.

Initially my plan was to have the tv against the left wall (past the windows), a 3 seater sofa in the middle of the room and a single sofa. With some spare space left, I'm thinking of ordering a dining table but at the same time I fear I may be coming the living room.

so do you think I should utilise the length of the room for the sofas? What else would anyone recommend.

I'm open to hear your views.

I think I'd go for a sofa in that bottom left corner, width 7ft max, pull it away from the walls a little. Tv on bedroom wall And you can have a chair in line with the bedroom door but about 3ft in front angled towards the sofa. I'd choose a chair that doesn't visually fill the room. You can then have a dining table with a bench against the hall wall. Choose a bench that sits between the table legs. Alternatively you could choose a small corner sofa like this. If you're not ordering prior to moving in in try marking it all out with masking tape and I'd zone the living area with a rug

Hi, I'd place the sofa on the left wall, TV between windows, chair near bedroom door, angled towards the sofa. Round dining table in the right hand bottom corner.

There isn't enough space on that wall. There are 2 narrow windows above the fireplace which make using that wall for anything almost impossible.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do these detailed plans. You have certainly come up with some ideas that we had not thought about. In particular we wouldn't have thought about having a small sofa against that wall (we had thought the tv would be good here) but actually I think it feels nice to be facing the other way. I also like the piano and the bookcase being at the entrance and feels this would help separate the kitchen from the family room area and also be that I can hear my daughter play whilst I cook and pop round the corner to see her. We have only just created that large opening for the window as wanted as much sun in as possible (and in fact have just had it amended to make it larger so it didn't look so obviously like a garage conversion to us) - so I wouldn't be keen on the second idea of reducing the window size for the piano - but yes you are absolutely correct and we should have thought about furniture placement more than we did as the 15cm of wall to the left of the window has prevented me from running a nice long floor to ceiling bookcase along that wall which is disappointing - but still other areas to put it in. Luckily I can carry out your furniture arrangement as I placed 3 tv points so will see how it feels when we finally get finished. Thank you so much for these plans and the effort to achieve them!

I like the tv between windows as Carolina suggested since you could put a modular low unit most of the way along that wall under the windows and tv. Plus passers by can’t see your tv and their gaze be attracted by moving images giving more privacy. (I’m a dog walker and can’t help but look when I see a tv on). And with corner sofa and coffee table in left corner I think the room will feel quite spacious and easy to manoeuvre in.
