Little Greene dilemma

Please can someone help. I am painting both north facing hallway and living room. I love Elephants breath by F&B but hate the actual paint it’s thin and takes way to much hard work. By comparison Little Greene is marvellous. Local paint shop who stock Little Green says he will mix up EB in Little Greene paint. Wil I still get the lovely thing that EB does where it changes colour with the light? Secondly any ideas for a warm paint colour that would work north facing with warm brown sofa and weird pinky brown carpet on stairs. Preferably a little Greene colour . Thanks in advance

We had some F&B colour matched by Little Greene, it was an excellent colour match (much better than Johnstones) and yes it still does that chalky colour changing thing :)

Have a look at Paint and Paper Library, lots of neutral type colours in 4 or 5 different depths and it's owned by Little Greene I believ.

I recently use F&B in my sitting room and it was lovely to use. Two coats and it was done. I’ve only used Little Greene‘s eggshell paint but I think it is a very superior paint. I used Slaked Lime mid and deep. I noticed Little Greene website lets you click on any colour and gives you 5 photos of that colour used in various situations - most helpful. Doesn’t all paint colour change with changing light? This below is Slaked Lime mid. Walls F&B Cromarty.

Little Greene all the way. F&B, Dulux, Crown etc are impossible to touch up - it always shows. Little Greene colours don't fade so although around the same price as F@B, it's more economical in the long run because you can touch up small areas invisibly and not have to re-paint the whole wall.

If you’ve got a narrow room painting the short wall/s darker will correct the room's proportions. Have you got a tester of the hicks as it’s more like a denim blue/dark RAF?

No we didn't use it in the end, we went with F&B French Grey - which is actually more green than grey. And I have to say I'm absolutely delighted with the colour!

I’ve heard good things but haven’t used it myself. I often keep my eye on eBay for a bargain and have noted this seller who has lots at a really good price - might be worth checking out if the colour works... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224048441218

I’m having a mare trying to work all this out. My sofa isn’t a chocolate colour which would be so easy to compliment with a paint colour. It’s a warm weird brown and my carpet on the stairs is not even brown it’s a weird pink light brown

Slaked Lime mid is an off white, I would say more on the warm side. I suppose a very pale beige more than a grey. It is a very pale neutral, almost a non colour I suppose. I think it kind of goes with most colours, even grey.

Thank you, I don’t want to lay out for all the testers I need from rolling fog to slaked lime families. I love Elephants breath but not sure it works with brown. And if I do go with it I will have to get it colour matched as I can’t stand F&B paint it’s awful.

We used to have elephants breath but changed it due to strong lilac tones....

Slaked lime I think is quite white/cool toned. Clockface is an archived LG colour and is still almost white but I think is warmer (we had testers of both) and can still be mixed at brewers etc.

Have you thought about a green grey like F&B Mizzle - that would go well with a pinky carpet? I’ve had F&B colours mixed in LG intelligent emulsion and they are fab and scrubbable to get marks off!

I’m really quite scared to go with grey or green grey because I am scared they will look too cold and yet equally I don’t like warm plaster/clay colours if that makes sense. I quite like the idea of a creamy white with a hint of line and I was kind of hoping that’s what slaked lime would look like

We had elephants breath in well lit stairs etc so went with a true grey (dulux chic shadow). We have a beautiful chalky creamy white in bedrooms - hollyhock by LG, which might work for you? We paired it with clockface on the woodwork in one of the rooms and that looks lovely too (very similar colours, clockface is slightly darker tone). Maybe you need to consider painting the lounge different to the hall as the colours you are trying to pair with are different in each place?

Yes I agree I should paint the hallway a different colour. It’s this bloody sofa. It’s a warm brown so harder imo to find a paint that sits well with it. I shall now go on to the Little Greene website and look at hollyhock and clockface. Did you not like Elephants breath in hallway ?

Have just purchased slaked lime and rolling fog and painted them on white sheets of paper. And I’m “meh”
