Seeking advice on fireplace

Hi all, on a cold Sunday, all I ask for is a wood burning fireplace. We had our chimney sweep few months ago. For a personal situation I don't want to get a fancy fireplace now. All I want is a way to lite up some wood and make the room cosy. So my question is, what is a safe way to have fire here (pics attached) - are there any indoor fire pits for chimney fireplace? Any other options.

Hi, have you had your chimney swept and checked? And is your hearth fireproof?
If so, you can buy an iron fire basket which will hold your fire. This is mine, it’s a bit small but I got it in Homebase

And as you can see, I haven’t swept up after last nights fire!

Of course. The dimensions would depend on the size of the fireplace/burner you would be going for. The opening would have to be made of non-flammable material, such as brick, stone, metal, porcelain tiles, Vermiculite Board, etc. You could use non-flammable paint over that. For example, our freestanding baskets like the one Richard posted above need 60 cm clearance from the bottom to the top; or if you wanted a contemporary line of fire look you could go for our Regulating Bio Containers like the one in the photo below - all required dimensions are available in the brochure with building advice on our website. No? No sideboard? No floor lamp? Perhaps it would be a good idea to have the photos all printed in black and white and on canvas. Fairly large format. Or all in black and white and in silver or white frames. I would personally ignore the different ceiling height and just hang them in a straight line or in a neat group. The centre of the frames should be at about eye level. That means that in a hallway they would hang higher up than in a lounge or dining room.

You can’t beat recommendations. We had our slate roof replace soon after we moved in, price of house was adjusted to take account of this, and we used a local chap who mostly works on his own, recommended by a neighbour. His price was very competitive but more importantly for us, he did a great job, including reusing any good slates on the front or the house so it matched next door and putting new slates facing the back. He re-lined the roof beautifully inside, and eight years on we have had no issues with any of his work. You can’t get away from it being a messy job, and we regret that we didn’t do a better job of covering things up. We didn’t have much in the attic at that stage, but lots of pieces of slate ended up in the insulation, along with dried moss and bird droppings. When we upgraded the insulation and put flooring down a couple of years later, we had lots to clean up before we started! Alway, always, always use someone who has been recommended, or whose work you can inspect for yourself.

thanks Alix. I goggled how to to check whether heath is firesafe... couldn't find anything. Is there a way to check... without burning the house. :)
