What a fresh take on a bathroom! And I just love this whole house. We want to do our basement in morrocan/English country, so this was inspiring. Thank you!

The best compliment I have had was when I was selling my flat in London. The lady who bought it came with a friend to do some measuring and in the course of the conversation the friend said 'oh I assumed you were an interior designer' when in fact I was a harassed working mother of two! One of my proudest moments :-) The best compliment my current home has had was when I overheard a dear friend telling someone 'You should see Gerry's house, no one else has a house that looks like that, it's so creative' bless her cotton socks.

Like where you are going with the blue. Keep the curtains straight, no tie backs, replace the blind with no frills and change your occasional furniture to something more like the tv set up - not wood as your floor is wood and it makes it look at bit "twee". Darker blue/grey on the chimney breast maybe and paler walls, also more textured cushions in different shapes to add interest in neutral colours. The blues look good on your fire place and the picture too. Instead of gold why not add a brighter yellow, like the daffs, to bring modernity to the scheme? Good luck!

hello and welcome. its a very neutral wallpaper. seeing that your sofa is cream, which is also neutral, you can use just about any colours you wish. one way to decide is this: chose the shade of the wallpaper that you most wanted brought out (eg. red of the stalks). and use bright scatter cushions &/or art &/or a rug (or do you already have a rug?) to make it noticeable.

We have used a colour similar to Hague blue in a dark study above dark oak cladding with grey curtains/carpet. The colour really makes wood or red leather pop and makes a dark room cozy rather than just dim. However, it doesn't have to be used as a dark colour to draw walls in, it can really complement some brighter colours like yellow, orange or a really bright lime green and really push them to the fore. It also gives a crisp clean look against whites for a more grown up look. If you're looking for opulence, try jewel colours like teal or amethyst. All metallics look good against a dark blue, but copper contrasts particularly well. Luckily, all these colours go with grey, but grey and blue can sometimes be a bit cold so i'd err on the side of warmer tones if in doubt.
