Love the flooring - what thickness, color, style and vendor?

We are installing flooring in a few months in our new home. Where can we buy? What is the type of wood, shade, etc. Thank you so much!

Thanks so much everyone - this has been great. Sorry for the lack of response - been flat out!!!! It must be hard for you American guys to work on such old English designs.... The ideas have gradually culminated into what really would look good on the house. Ourfarmhouse - these are absolutely great ideas, and thanks Everything Beautiful for getting the jist and putting the ideas onto the house image - nothing like seeing an actual design on your own home. We've got an architech working on it, and he's keen on the iron-wrought idea... but we're not sure. Basically toss-up with this and Everything Beautiful's design (2 above). Going with a four-pannel door, but would like to incorporate some glass somewhere! Possibly a panel above with the house name engraved on it?? Victoria - absolutely right...! We don't need to sit outside with the weather.......... say no more! Just wanting something to cover yourself while you're unlocking the door. We've also done a tour of the local areas, and found a couple of porches - amazing what you find right on your doorstep! Will attach pics shortly...

Got to be luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) all the way! Generally, LVTs are 2.5mm thick, made from 100% pvc (therefore waterproof), come with a thick polyurethane wear layer that normally is backed up with a manufacturers warranty, with a wood or stone effect finish. LVTs are great with underfloor heating and unlike ceramics, they don't break when heavy objects are dropped on them and unlike wooden floors, once laid, LVTs need no further maintenance other than regular vacuuming and washing. LVTs are almost indestructible! There are many options available but us Flooring Gurus recommend going for a recognised brand. The whole idea about an LVT is for it to look authentic. They need to genuinely look like the wood or stone flooring they are mimicking. Cheap alternatives, when installed, look ... well ... awful! Try looking at Polyflor's Colonia and Camaro. Carpeting the stairs will probably be cheaper than a runner! It isn't a style flop at all - it's just the norm and the colour of the carpet can be used to tie the tiled hallway to the upstairs, thus drawing the eye up and making the space feel larger (as the eye goes from one colour to another.) I too love bare stairs but soon found them an inconvenience with the cleaning! A quick vacuum and carpet stairs are done. With wood it's a brush and pan, then a wipe over with a damp cloth or disinfectant. Dare I say this... at the end of the day it is your home. I have regularly helped my neighbours and almost pandered to them - it gets one nowhere. I recently returned home and found my neighbour had been having her workmen park their vans on my drive as she thought I had gone away. No apology and she didn't clean the cigarettes, dirt or nails away either. Don't feel bad in apologising and buying a pair of quality slippers or slipper socks! I imagine the noise comes from wearing shoes?

Hello decor178 Oh I thought they were oils on canvas. Yes I would have looked for similar but not identical. Still you could hang them differently, for instance horizontal - vertical- blue top - black top so they would appear to compliment if hung differently as opposed to the same. Given they are in separate rooms. That would be my suggestion or if you don't like that idea then something different. Or add to them with more. :))
