Help! With cabinet and wall color for kitchen redo.
Have a nice size kitchen I am updating. New counters with Karis LG quartz and Blanco quartz sink in cinder. However kitchen is in middle of house does not get a lot of natural light (although looks into a room with a lot of light) light is mainly from over island and indirects . Surrounding 2 rooms get a lot of light, The 2 surrounding rooms are BM Sherwood Tan and whole house is SW extra white trim and is family room cabinetry. I am afraid cabinets repainted in SW extra white will be do “cold” in the kitchen and am struggling with wall paint color. I like the idea of black cabinets but I have a lot of cabinets. the middle pix is best representation with only island light on mid morning.

Comments (51)Dear Azfar, I think your units are lovely, very sophisticated and much nicer than white. Your units and work tops are very similar to those I have in my kitchen, which also have black granite tops. I also have a wooden floor of a similar shade, please don't change this, it is lovely. I was aware when I had my kitchen fitted that the units appeared darker than in the showroom but this was due entirely to the colour of the walls they were installed on. To lift the units, and celebrate their beautiful colour, you should paint your walls a darker and contrasting colour, I have chosen a really shocking pink, Rock Candy, but there lots of options. The showroom I saw my units in used a burgundy colour, too dark for my Victorian kitchen. There are so many colour options which don't have to be expensive, play around with a few tester pots and see which you prefer. This is by far the cheapest option, and I'm sure you'll fall in love with your kitchen units again once your units are allowed to stand out. Incidentally your unit colour helps to visually integrate your stainless steel 'fridge, another reason to stick with it. That's not a lot of info to go with, but lets see... do you know what style of decor you generally prefer? do you like wood? if you like this kind of look, you could have white walls and black cabinets. or you could go for white cabinets and grey walls. now for colour: any dramatic and bold colour for either cabinets or walls, and white for the other. Comments (20)I would choose something very close to that deep red/rust/plum (can't quite work out what it is) in the granite. It looks as if that colour is also in the tea towel on the right (hanging on the handle in front of the oven). Everything else is so light I think the room would take it well and it would give it wow factor. 5 years agoSina sadeddin ....I am uploading new pix with all lights on! the cooktop is downdraft as the new one will be. Salonva...yes they are Maple cabinets.
Does this help at all....it is hard to photograph

5 years agoThank you Susie! ....I tend to agree. Here is pix with counter sample next to SW extra white family room cabinet ( but that room has good natural light)
When countertop goes in it Will be easier to evaluate the white for cabinets. And would love to do island dark ....BM deep space if go white cabinets. Putting a walnut top on cutout from kitchen to family rm to “warm it up” too.
