garage door matching front door?

Morning houzzers!
Quick question/ your opinions please,
We are looking to replace our garage door (garage is detached next to our back garden), it is currently white but with cleaning car and motorbikes weather etc it looks dirty pretty quick.
We are thinking of changing the door to either a dark grey or black- do you guys think it will look out of place with the front door or should we change front door to match? (We will be changing front door at some point anyway as its not aesthetically pleasing)

Hi we changed our front door 2 years ago to Anthracite. We only got around to painting our white garage door last summer. Whilst it is not unusual to have your front and garage door different colours it does look more balanced having them the same colour. I don't have a before photo but my after pic. Also I don't notice the dirt as much.

That looks really well @Patrina, really suits the colour of the brick too! Funnily my front door and garage doors match, garage doors were black originally and the front door was oak! Grew tired of the oak and painted it black! Looks sooo much better now! More accidental than on purpose they ended up the same colour tbh.

I think your instinct is spot on - the grey does not go with your lovely house at all! You said yourself, 'the grey craze', why follow the herd? Perhaps you should question why you want a 'contemporary colour' instead of one of the many choices which will enhance your beautiful period house. You don't see lovely pink Suffolk cottages, or the black and white half timbered houses characteristic of some areas daubed with grey because it's the latest fad.

I agree with you, if you want the garage to blend in, then it needs to match in with the brickwork, or maybe it's surroundings, ie the planting. So a beige, beige/ green, sage etc I can't blow the pic up enough to see the windows and soffits / fascia's. Looks like they're a stone colour, so maybe match to that. I don't think your front door needs to match everything if you do want a bit of colour. It's a personal thing isn't it, so whatever, you like that would go well with the rest of it, a grey would work with the beige / sage/ greens etc.

Good morning, May I suggest for the front door and garage be painted the same in a very high gloss, possibly from farrow and balls collection a colour that has similarly to the stone used on the house such as.....Archive or Oxford stone which should compliment the brown window frames? I would also suggest you remove all the terracotta planters and replace them with some contemporary natural stone or paint the planters same as the door and they should be tall and plant some large box balls or sphere shapes which should update the look? @beano thank you:-) I had to order the RAL colour online and really love how it turned out. Saved a few pennies by not replacing with a brand new anthracite garage door as well!

I always think the front and garage doors look so much nicer and more cohesive if painted the same colour. @Patrina yours looks fab!
