How much should a stair runner cost!?
Comments (11)We're going through the same as you as we are having to replace our very expensive sisal runners with their beautiful black taping after only 5.5 years. Would strongly recommend against sisal anywhere, but particularly on the stairs. Any dirt, spilt drinks, splashes of water result in stains that even professional carpet cleaners cant get out. The pile is too short and it all gets embedded in those lovely ridges. They shrink away from the skirting board quickly because they cant be pinned down like normal carpet so it quickly looks tatty and we're only 3 people including an unusually clean and tidy child. If you do treat yourself please don't buy sisal!I...See MoreHow can I make this wow?
Comments (12)Good afternoon Joanne! That's a lovely modern space so you've got a great base to work with. For the window treatment it could be really nice to have curtains along the whole length of that wall with the french windows. Almost like this but only on one wall: You can have one sheer curtain that lets light through and then have some heavier curtains in front which can say open during the day. This would add a softer/cozier side to the room. In terms of light fitting I am a big fan of the Diner Pendant: It's available here: https://www.hutsly.com/search?type=product&q=diner+pendant and in either 3 or 4 lights and in brass, nickel or black. That will instantly add some WOW! Then for that back wall I love Isidora's first picture reference with narrow shelves to display art. Something like this: Depending on how narrow you make those shelves you can then mix framed pictures and ornaments. If you are looking for art have a look at our selection here: https://www.hutsly.com/collections/wall-art And finally a big rug underneath the table to complete the picture and you're set! Perhaps a rug with subtle patterns or no patterns as you would then have a lot going on: Available here: https://www.hutsly.com/collections/rugs/products/karma-abstract-rug-in-ash-grey or look at our whole range here: https://www.hutsly.com/collections/rugs Hope that helps and do show us the final results! Would love to see what it looks like all done! Anthony....See MoreI finished a room! Clutter and colour issues?
Comments (111)Funny you should say that ED; a friend and I just decided to do our compilation show again at Edinburgh next year. We did it for the first time in 2017. It's called Laugh begins at Forty and has five or six different comedians over 40 performing every day. I'd better get the house finished!...See MoreCosts of a kitchen extension
Comments (27)Hi, for us taking a step back and re thinking with a local builder who we really got on with was the game changer. He had people he worked with regularly who helped with amending the drawings etc. He also really wanted the job because he could see the potential, we are also fortunate to have a big green with easy access to the plot. He was one of many I contacted through Checkatrade after reading reviews. We really had got stuck trying to adapt the grand design to fit our budget and were intending to go ahead with that end result. Then one day I was in the garden and looked back at the house and realised we were going to end up with some pointless box on the back of the house so I posted on Houzz and now work has started and we are really excited. Covid has made a difference to cost and availability but our builder is as on top of that as he can be and we are taking his advice on e.g which bricks are readily available and reasonably priced. It is early days for our build (concrete poured on Friday) so we have our fingers crossed it will stay a positive experience throughout! So my advice would be don’t give up but be prepared to keep searching for the right person to help you achieve what you want, be open to the suggestions of others but don’t forget how you want to use the space when you have it. Good luck....See Moremattweeksdj
